This aircraft could be considered the first aircraft to demonstrate jet propulsion, not in the sense of a turbojet engine but as a ducted fan unit mounted on the front of the aircraft. The duct contained a fan which drove plain air backwards (not a fuel/air mixture) to provide propulsion and was it'self driven by a Clerget piston engine.
