Let me reply with a rhetorical question of my own...
« Reply #16 on: March 22, 2002, 06:27:35 AM »
...Is it possible to really love any "manufactured by demographics for my consumption 'artist's'" work? I mean, the record company is who I should love, they made Britany (and N'SYNC, 98 degrees, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Milli Vanilli, et al) for "me". ;)

Gimme Pink Floyd, R.E.M., Lynard Skynard, etc. any day...

LOL.   I don't think we're talking about Love, here, right?

I want Britney Spears but I'll settle for a Ki.84.

It is not a Britney Spears song... it goes back at least to the early 80's if not mid to late 70's... it is not a top40 rock artist. if it was easy I never would have asked. I was more interested in seeing if I was the only person here to know those lyrics. As events would have it I my suspicions are correct. I have a diverse musical taste that results in me liking some otherwise obscure or "fuddy duddy" artists that you only see on tv commercials ;)

By the way, the full lyrics and music to this song are awesome. Would be cool if it was modernized into a truly popular hit song.

If you load your rifle right and if you fix your bayonette  so and if you kill that man my friend the one we call the foe.

My ship lies rigged and ready in the harbour tommorow for old England she sails.

blah blah blah

If I were a swan, I'd be gone.   [swan = Spit14]
If I were a train, I'd be late.    [train = Spit V]
And if I were a good man [who uses voice feature], I'd talk with you more often than I do.
If I were to sleep, I could dream.  [but I'm always playing AH]
If I were afraid, I could hide.  [but I never hide in my Spit V]
If I go insane, please don't put your wires in my brain.

It is more like what I won: my sanity. I now know that I am not alone ;)

Though upon doing a little browsing, I discovered the song dates back to the 60's rather than the 70's. My father always had music of all types (33 LPs, which he has since given to me) and Roger Whittaker was among them. I liked that song as a kid and still like it now.
