Any chance of these planes?
« on: March 21, 2002, 07:52:50 PM »
There are so many planes it'd be nice to have in the game, but obviously each time one is introduced, it's best if it helps gameplay, balance, or just starts to fill in one of the larger gaps... so my votes go for:

1. SM79 - good all-rounder, and give the RA a strike plane of its own

2. Pe2 - essentially the VVS equivalent of the Ju88 (and can we have fighter versions of both, please?!)

3. Do217E - to beef up the LW strike capability.  I'd actually prefer the He111 first, but I doubt it'd be well received by many.

4. Wellington - standard Britsh medium bomber, and tough as nails with it!

5. FW200 Condor for long-range maritime patrol

6. Catalina- for Allied long-range maritime patrol

7. Rata
8. Fiat CR42
9. Gladiator
10. Hs123

-the latter four to give some interesting early-war options, and also for close support ground attack. I can imagine the Shvak's on the Rata might become popular in some quarters, despite its being an early war plane!

H8K2 would be better for Axis long rage maritime patrol and attack than the Fw200.  It would be better in all ways.

Go Karnak!

BTW, now that AH has committed to introducing some early War aircraft, I agree with you- the Slow But Deadly is a better choice than the Son of a squeak, 2nd Class.    The Dauntless was used from the beggining of the war through at least 1944, so it would be appropriate and useful for a wide range of Pac scenarios.

I was just hoping for something completely different - few game developers even touch the SB2C - but the Dauntless is as much a shoe-in as the P-51 Mustang.    AH's former late-War emphasis and the SB2Cs edge on paper made it formery a logical choice for inclusion.

I wonder what the Catalina would be used for... Plus,it would need to start from harbors unless it's the amph version. Hey, how about we have the Zero with floats as well? And cruisers and battleships that launch planes? And maybe snow and planes with skis? heheheh
