The mandatory addition of voice into AH is a mixed blessing.

Hearing people in range, quickly chatting when hands are busy elsewhere, and the increased sense of teamwork are all definite benefits.

However, we get a mixed managerie of volume levels/quality and annoyance.

Some people, I have learned, you just don't want to hear.  THX for vsquelch!

But I noticed something EXTREMELY important while diagnosing my system problems.

With an SBLive card, turning down windows acceleration one notch helps a great deal

And most importantly:

PLACE THE MIKE TO EITHER SIDE OF YOUR MOUTH, not in the direct flow of air from your speaking.

Not to mention the simple diagnostics of tuning V channel to your cpid (read: handle) and speaking to yourself.

The above two suggestions should be placed in the MA MOTD to help level out the sound quality there.

My .02

Nothing sound worse than a guy with his mike so close to his mouth that you can hear it scrape his teeth

I would suggest players test their mic.  Type in their on CPID into box 5 (the v box).  You can hear yourself speak.
