Typhoon - Extra Loadouts Availability
« on: March 25, 2002, 03:24:19 PM »
Hi

Just been reading a bit more about the Hawker Typhoon IB in 'Typhoon/Tempest In Action':-

"While the standard load was normally eight (60lb) rockets, armament specialists had developed a 'saddle' mounting enabling a second row of rockets to be slung below the first.  The use of the saddle enabled varying loads to be carried using either single or paired racks."

"Other underwing ordnance carried by the Typhoons included a 520lb anti-personnel cluster bomb.  This weapon contained twenty-six segments, each weighing 20lbs and was designed to burst on impact, scattering shrapnel over a wide area.  The bomb had a nose and tail fairings and could be carried on standard bomb racks."

Anyone know anymore about these and any chance they can be added to our AH Typhoon?

The typhoon was also the first to operationally use napalm, although in a limited number of sorties.

before giving these fantasy loadouts the the typhoon why don't you ADD THE ARMORMENT OPTIONS TO THE FW-190F8 WHICH IT REALLY NEEDS, it's pretty damn unfair that use LW guys have been asking for it for a while and even provided sources that proves the options existed and still not get them while the Allies have always had tons of armorment options for their planes and some were rarly equipped!! and what's up with the German 300litre tank on the Spit IX also? didn't it have a smaller external tank

The Spits frequently used a 90 imp gallon external tank, which is 409 litres.

Somebody posted, and I've reposted, a picture of the Typhoon carrying 4 rockets + drop tanks, and that's an option I'd like to see added.

The Mosquito pilot's manual also mentions a similar configuration, and warns not to fire the rockets for a minute after dropping the tanks.

The Mosquito's got a fair range anyway, but the Typhoon could really do with the ability to carry external fuel along with rockets.

Well I would like to see also all mods for all planes but Im affraid its far beyond what can be done and also why to add things like cluster bombs when we have nothing to employ it against... Yes I would like to have Incendary bombs for B-17s for rafinery attacks or mix of HE and Incendary bombs for carpet bombing etc... And maybe in one version of AH we gonna have all this... But I doubt its gonna be anytime soon...

That anti-personel bomb would be great for killing troops.  Perhaps 1 bomb would kill any paratroopers within a 100m diameter?

Lots of new ordnance options would be nice, with the LW missing the greatest variety

Please don't steal the thread Soviet.  Extra armament options for the Fw-190F8 have been requested many times before and if you want to start another thread reminding HTC of the incorrect F8 loadout then please go ahead.  I'm a RAF/Typhoon fan though I don't begrudge the Luftwaffe fans requesting additions to their planes - I'm often supporting the inclusion of Luftwaffe planes!

So, the main reason for my topic was to first ask if it is possible to have it included and secondly to see if anyone else knows more about the extra payloads that I stated.

If you don't ask you don't get!
