Short freezes in graphics
« on: March 27, 2002, 06:54:42 AM »
Have not had this experience before 1.09, before the latest patch, #2, it was worse and seems to be better now but still there and very annoying.

What happens is I get a short 1/2 sec to 1 sec screen freeze. I thought it was random but have finally found a common instance that causes it.

It happens when other planes approach and the dot resolution or plane resolution changes or when the icon appears.

It only seems to happen when a new plane or dot first approaches, after a particular plane or dot has been in it's current state in my view it can go out and come back in range and not cause it.

As an example... I can be flying out towards an enemy area, a dot appears, the smallest one, no problem there. As we approach though and that dot starts to change in resolution to more definition I get my initial freeze, when that plane's icon appears for the first time I get another freeze. Depending on how many are involved will determine the length of the freeze. Once we start fighting each other all seems well enough unless another new dot approaches and it starts all over.

I had something similar to this when they first started using the high definition ground scenery that turned on when you got in range, but that is smooth now.

I hope I have explained it well enough and in an understandable manner. This is not random, it happens every time.

System Specs:

Intel PIII 933 (Not overclocked)
Abit VH6 MB 133 FSB, 256 megs 133 ram
VisionTek Xtasy 5864 GeForce 2 Ti Video Card 64 meg
Video Driver version: 4.13.01.2311
Windows 98SE, DX8.1
MarkAT

Keep the shiny side up!

For startes try the easiest.
Click on start and run. Type explorer and click ok.
Navigate to c:\programfiles\htc\aceshigh\setttings
Delete the video7.cfg file
Restart Aces High
Choose your normal video settings and put the check in disbale palatized textures and enable mip mapping. Try this and see if it helps.
