Not that I want to start any big fight here.
However I would like to hear some rational feedback.

Didn't the threat of the Tirpitz & other German hvy cruisers pretty much keep British carriers OUT of the channel?

I know they used their carriers elsewhere, S africa, Indonesia, Mediteranian. But I've never hear of Carriers in the channel.

Possible exception when they were trying to chase down the Bismarck, I know they hit it with Carrier Fairy Swordfish. But even that wasn't really in the Channel was it?

On the other hand looked like the CV was creating some great fights up at 22 last night so I'm NOT calling for a change or anything. Just curious.

Yes u pretty much didn't see the RN's CV's in the channel much between mines, subs and enemy a/c would have been foolish to bring them in.

They did see alot of action in the North Sea with several raids on Norway. This was after the BOB era though.

well early in bob stukas attacked coastal "shipping" freighters and what not.

I am not sure that that these were escorted. It seems the channel would be the last place to find warships on patrol.

I wonder if the time comes for a bob scenario if its possible to create freighters from the existing ships. spread along the english coast........

The thing about the cvs in there now is the allies are takling to the hurri more then the spit.

CVs come with the map.
They can't be disabled.

Actually thats not entirely true Eskimo.

They could be assigned to the Knights country and moved off to a quiet corner (up NW in the North Sea).

I agree that we need unescorted lightly armed merchant shipping to attack.

There were many Destroyer & Frigate squadrons that operated out of the ports in Southern England during the BOB period all the way to the end of the war. They were on invasion patrol, ASW patrol and escorting the convoys of merchant ships coming into England. The big capital ships pretty much kept clear though unless they were damaged and coming into Portsmouth to be repaired.

Along with the PT boats available this would make it very realistic.
