:( Whers a early war P-38??
« on: March 27, 2002, 01:13:47 AM »
:( Where a early war P-38???? Now I know yall get bored of me posting P-38 whines... But wheres a early war P-38???? That makes 5 spits I think. I know its perked but by the same token the spit14 was added a early war P-38 should be added. How many fighters in AH right now have 1 version??? I like the L model
but I want a P-38H :).... Cause its green damnit!!!! :D

Hey I thought this up while I was in school today.
So since i thought it up I CAN'T HELP WITH IT. If HTC wants to try it.
My idea is.

Since HTC is such a small company. Why not let the comminty design some flight models. Hhehehe I know this sounds like a dumb idea. But there alot of guys here that know butt load about WW2 A/C. Why not make a commity of people who are UNBIAS of the plane there helping to model. So for each new flight model a new group of people is elected by HTC to model that plane. So each new model will have differnet people to help  and the model won't get porked or over done by people who favor or dislike the plane. Also the commity MUST AGREE on the model. So no wishy washy decision making. And let the comminty vote on the next plane to be modeled. And for each model REAL proof of the performance of the A/C be they factroy test or combat accounts.

So what yall think????
PS if HTC picks up on this I vote for a P-38H

Yeah, you've seen the debates that people have with plane models now when HTC, who's only motive is to make a good, profitable game, is making the models. Can you imagine the chaos when there are multiple parties making planes according to the "Best available data"? For a perfect example, look at This Thread where people discuss the wide range of performance data gathered on the Ki-84. I trust HTCs neutrality with regard to plane performance. I don't trust us as players.

In an attempt to be helpful, here's one suggestion, take it for what it's worth: collect all the flight data you can (primary source if you can get it) for the early war P-38s. Send it to HTC. Maybe they'll use it. Maybe they wont. But research is its own reward and an invaluable skill for any pursuit. While you can't model the plane yourself, you can at least assure that HTC has the tools to model it if they choose to do so.

Oleg Maddox has done that, he builds the FM while he has 3rd party people developing cockpits/planes that they want to.

He said he has to go back and fix 60% of what they do.

Best leave it to the people that know how to import things into the program and how to build these things.

Adding the other 2 38 models sya the J and the F should be pretty fast and easy?   Same 3D model isn't it?   Just need to adjujst the flight model parameters?

Not a programmer but on the surface would seem a relatively easy job compared to making a whole new plane from scratch.

Was just a thought I had in school yesterday. Never really thought about if some else else thought it before I did.
And it seems a good idea in my head but after thinking about it. And reading what yall posted. It would be a bad idea. Because the people designing the flight model would probly be at each others throats by the times its finished.

What about my idea on vote for the next planes to be added??
If HTC posted 2 or 3 planes and told us to vote on plane we wanted to see in AH. Hmmm that might work and it might not.

Hey Seeker I'll try to keep the 38 posts down a min.
Was just trying to do 2 posts in one...

HTC has stated that there will be NO player made models for planes. Creating the planes model is the easiest part of creating finished product, it is the damage lay out, cockpit design, flight model, ordinance layout, movable parts, etc. I can very well understand that making the plane model itself is the most fun part and why give that part away :)

Is it right then to assume that making variants of existing planes is much easier?

I think it's safe to say most of the late war set is finished with the exception of Ki-84. I'm pretty much convinced next couple of versions will dig heavily into the other early war planes we didn't see yet.

 My estimates..

 Ki-84, P-40, F4F, A6M2 Zero, plus a new tank by the time of 1.10..

about 1.1 we'll probably get some Kates, Vals and Dauntless's.. peobably a P-38J or H...

then, in the next year, HTC's next move will be to completely finish off the strat system and release AH2.0

 ...

 I'm a regular Nostradamus, eh?
