SCSI problem
« on: March 31, 2002, 11:17:27 PM »
i have an adaptec AVA-1505-1515 SCSI card that i want to use to run a scanner.

but.....i dont know what to set the interrupt switches to.

there are five switches labelled:
alt-on: 140H
     off: 340H
I09-interrupt 09
I10-interrupt 10
I11-interrupt 11
I12-interrupt 12

there are 2 movable switches.

now i dont really want to just move the switches around until i get the right config with the 5 interrupt switches (or until my comp blows up.)

i have an ASUS P2-99 MB (or someting like that :) )
Winblows XP
PEEIII 500
ati rage 128 pro
soundblaster live sc

can you lend a hand?????

(ps i tried looking this stuff up on the "internet," but there were far too many acronyms and this card is pretty old so i dont know if they still have info on it.)

My guess is that with XP you don't need to worry about the interrupt switches. If they mean the coded PCI interrupt, ACPI will remap them anyway.

Does the card work? Did you try it without changing anything?

Go to device manager (right click my omputer, select properties, select the hardware tab, select device manager)

Click View, then Resources by type. Expand the Interupt Request (IRQ) entry. See if you have IRQ 9 10 11 or 12 free. Set the jumper on the card to one of the free entries.

Expand the Input Output entry. Scroll down and see if 00000140 or 00000340 is free. Set the jumper on the card to whichever is free.

If you do not have a free IRQ, you will need to go into your pcs BIOS and reserve an IRQ for legacy devices.
