Mel Paisley, RIP
« on: April 02, 2002, 06:17:12 PM »
9th AF P-47 ace Mel Paisley died December 26.  Many of us got to meet him at the 1999 WarBirds Con. He was a lot of fun. I'll never forget his narration of his own gun camera film, including an Me 262 kill.   Or his body language and exclamations watching our virtual dogfights.  I hope I have that much vitality when I am in my 70's.

I got a signed copy of his book and video and they were well worth the money. He also was a major contributor to the "Shooting War" documentary which aired on ABC Dec. 7, 2000.

Somebody might want to pass this on to AGW.  I don't have an account there anymore.

Its a sad thing, in another 10 years or so, WW2 is going to be History only found in books :(

Mel Paisley

On another note, is anyone put off by the way they described him in that artical? Jeez he is dead, almost all of it was about the scandal, the newzies can't even give a guy a break in death? How about a small blurb on the scandal and the rest about the guy being a fighter pilot!
