CH fighterstick and pro pedals
« on: April 01, 2002, 03:41:35 PM »
OK  guys...sorry to be lame., I read the posts on the same subject but I still am lost. About 2 yrs ago we bought a ch fighterstick and pro pedals. NOT usb. Never used . Old puter took a dump and after all this time finally bought a new one, and low and behold win XP. Now it comes with a disc (unless kids lost floppy), I have no clue where or how to set it up. Came w/ dos instructions and regular setup.. well I got it to work in windows as 3 axis 4 button joystick . No hat and many features don't work. Pedals do . Since I have to start from scratch do I run the setup disc or no ? errr as you guess I'm not computer litterate!!So easy guys...BTW ..best stick I ever used was my old old microsoft 3d pro used in AW for 5 yrs!!! Short, stocky, and spring tension was hard. I was a 38 flyer in there but in AH WOW, what a difference...thought I was walking pretty tall...AH I'm crawlin like a babe pountingt and lickin my wounds....so all that killedme I'll get even;)  PAK

Pak, your stuck between a rock and a hard place.

The Non-USB CH Stick/Pro Throttle has to be programed with the SpeedKeys utility on the CH website.  The DOS stuff is for DOS games only.

The problem... Speedkeys does not work in Win XP or Win2k.  Only Win95 or Win98.  And unfortunately CH does not plan to update the software.

The stick/throttle combo will work in XP or Win2k, but it has to be programmed already.

I'm in the same situation, and I have to keep a active Win98 partition on a small older HD I have in my system, to use to boot with when I need to program mine.

Good Luck in AH !

Under Win XP, I con't see why you cannot support your fighterstick as a 6 button w/ two POV and throttle stick and then use the stick mapping feature in AH to support most of your buttons. I'll bet your 8way hat switch will even be supported as an eight way hat in AH. I know you only have 4 buttons but you may find that since AH will only support only two POV hats in stick mapping, that the third hat may be supported in part as two of the remaining button commands. I don't know, but give it a try at least and see what happens.

I'm in the process of understanding XP myself and have my CH FX force feedback stick supported as a 6 button w/two POV stick. All buttons and POVs are supported. I have also a USB pedal and throttle attached.

As for your pedals, you should have no problem getting it supported as a rudder even though I do not believe you can get you pedals to support left and right brake functions in addition to the rudder.

Best ofluck!
