When making a sound...
« on: April 02, 2002, 11:40:20 AM »
I took a WW2 50 cal wave file and converted it to the AH 22050 kb/8bit mono, played in the game, and it sounds as if I had put a silencer on it.

HOWEVER, when I use F3 and zoom into the p-38's nose, it sounds PERFECT.

I named the file m2.wav

Do I have to give it some other name for it to sound in cockpit the way it sounds when I f3-zoom (why does it do that????).

OTH, the rocket sound I got ( a bazooka rocket firing.. love the ZZZZOOOOM WWHIIIIIIIINNEEE as it fires) works perfectly from inside an outside cockpit it sounds great.

Having the same issue with my new 20mm sound.

ideas?

this is really weird. Not even mitsus nor whel's sounds work. They are all completely muffled.

Even more weird is that this only affects the GUNS. I put in a new bazooka sound for my rockets (22050 8b mono) and it sounds perfect inside the cockpit. But any wave file I use in the guns works.

Reinstalled sound drivers, uninstalled (completely)/reinstalled AH, ive even tried removing the SETTINGS folder just in case it was a fukd up setting... no joy.

Even reinstalled directX8.1 for win2k.. no go either.

This is seriously pissing me off :(

Tac,

M2 0.50cal guns names of P38L are "m2_2.wav" and "m2_3.wav".

Here is P-38L sounds list:

20mm_3.wav (M2 20mm Cannon Sound on Nose)
eng.wav (Twin-Engines Sound)
engoff.wav (Engines Stop Sound)
engstart.wav (Engines Start Sound)
flaps.wav (Flaps Sound)
gear.wav (Gears Sound)
m2.wav (External Guns Sound from other players)
m2_2.wav (M2 0.50cal Machine-Guns Sound)
m2_3.wav (M2 0.50cal Machine-Guns Sound)

Thanks mitsu! I thought all planes used the m2.wav in their individual folder as their MG sound. :)

BTW, I love your stall buzzer sound. The damage sounds still make me jump :D

well, here's my 50 cal and 20mm sounds. If Hellcat or Mitsu can make them work, i'd be grateful.

Yet my problem remains.. even with mitsu's or the AH default sounds, the guns are still completely muffled :(

I've got your sound, Tac.
I'll try it.

But please hang on, till I install Aces High.
