Improving Rockets on the PT
« on: April 06, 2002, 12:38:49 PM »
Hi All,

My experience has been that the rockets on the PT are fun as fireworks, but not much use as weapons. Here's a suggestion for improving them - tell me what you think.

It seems obvious that someone on a rocket equipped PT would have actually known how to set the range, otherwise it would be like sending out a Mortar team that only knew how to fire but not to target. "Guess based on where the first round lands" was not sound military practice.

Therefore, why not connect the PT rockets with the LAND MODE used for aiming Ship Guns and SBs at land targets? That way at least you could accurately set the distance, via map and mouse if not the actual deflection? This might give PTs a strategic rather than just a novelty value.

Brady, that would be the old "guess based on where the first round lands" approach I mentioned. :)

Living as I do, next to Ft. Bragg from whence I hear artillery rumbling all the time, I'm glad they don't employ that methodology.

Seriously though, until we can get Corvettes and Destroyers as perk rides (bring on that day!) I'd like to see the base/ground attack ability of the PT upgraded.
