Hey anyone know of a P-51 or a F4U on display around the DFW area?? Would like to see both but if I can only see one would like to see a P-51 (but really like to a P-38 which I have never seen in my life).. So anyone know of this??

at the Addison Airport there is the Cavanaugh Museum, i think there was a P51 there.

There is also a really nicely restored Hog that flies in to Addison Airport/Cavanaugh semi-regularly. You might wanna give them a call and see what all is in the hangars.

Its about a 5 hour drive, but if you are ever over in the Shreveport area, drop in at thr Barksdale AFB museum. Its open to the public, and they have quite a nice collection of planes there, including a P-51, P-47, B-24 and B-17.

Badass!! Next time I go fishing at Lak O The Pinnes or Caddo lake I'll take a day off and go to Shreveport.

Wasnt that the one that had the take off accident a few years ago where the pilot (Laird Doctor?) was killed?

It hit the wing of a bear cat on take off at an air show

Laird "Lad" Doctor was not killed, he lives up in Denton, TX. and is alive and well.

There are 2 mustangs at Addison airport, one is at the http://www.cavanaughflightmuseum.com and the other is owned by Lew Shaw. The latter is highly polished bare metal, it is a "D" model but has an "H" model motor and prop. The blades are short but fat, i.e. wider chord.
The F4U-4 that was involved in that incident in Oshkosh is also at Addison but is in a storage hanger in pieces.
Out at Mecham, in Fort Worth, there is a B-17 by the name of Chuckie. They also have a T-34 and an old Fuga jet.

Sheveport is only 3 hours away from Dallas.

Heheheh towing a boat I guess things just go slower

cause it 3 hours to Lake O the Pines and 4 hours to Caddo Lake...
