What about keywords for incoming msgs
« on: April 10, 2002, 02:22:03 AM »
It could be usefull to have a list of our own keywords that could be hilighted or generate a beep sound when we receive msg.

I mean, for me, I would have (joyful, jf, joy, etc etc) as keywords and whenever someone type a msg with one of my keywords, it catches my attention with a special color or a beep.

Thanks!

PS  For sure "wtg" would be to avoid as a keyword.  :)

What reasons might those be?  It needn't interfer with bandwith since it could reside on the client side.  I can't think of an obivous reason this is impractical.

This is my point  :)

I agree that it's a nice idea... the only problem I see is the variability of spelling skills. I'm a good speller myself, but I know that I can't type correctly when I'm in the middle of combat.

Still, it's a good idea... it just won't work much of the time.

I think that is a great idea.....and while we are at it you could incorporate a similar thing if you want to squelch certain words.....just a thought.

Im no programmer but it could work right?  They have fake sheep in the game.....LOL :p

Well, in the list we could also add mispelled words like:
jyoful, joyflu :) etc etc, it's almost limitless.  Anyway, I didn't see my name mispelled often, some will use my old nickname JF, but as I said, I would add it in my own list of keywords.  We could also consider if it needs to compare complete or partial words.

From a software pov, it's really no big deal.  But is it worth the work?  That's to HTC to decide.

That is just a nice feature I would like to see in AH.  Sometimes I just don't notice some msg to me.  Mostly from broadcast.

I agree, Joyful, it is a very good idea. Even if it only did work half the time, it would be worth having.:)
