Need Help on CH FighterStick,Throttle,Pedals
« on: April 22, 2002, 06:48:59 PM »
This is a call for Help.  I am in deep withdrawal.  I just recently purchased a new computer which has Windows XP.  I was using CH Products Combat Stick, Pro Throttle and CH Pedals, but because XP does not support gameport, I had to purchase CH Product  USB Set up.  FighterStick, Pro Throttle and Pro Pedals.  My problem is I can't get these items programmed in Aces High.  The setup is recognized by Windows  and listed in the Aces High Setup window, but no input to the stick throttle, and pedals.  I have downloaded the CH Control Manager Version 1.23  but no joy  .  Does anyone else have this setup?  and if so can you give me tips as to how to program this thing.  Thanks.

Attached is the "map" I'm using in CH Control Manager.  You will have to copy this into the Maps subdirectory.  In my computer this is C:\Programs\CH Products\Control Manager\Maps.  Then when you start CH Control Manager, you have to open the map and then "activate the current map".

Let me know if this solves your problem.

Leeburt, thank you very much for the map.  I have the fighterstick, throttle and pedals, so all I have to do now is figure out the pedals, which I should be able to do now that you have helped out.  In any case I can not fly, which I was not able to do before.  Again Thanks a lot.    DennisR :)

Ahhhhhhhh.  Well, flying is another matter all together, and flying in Aces High is not too forgiving.  I'm thinking NIK's & Spits with 50% fuel loads and no bomb loads might be the place to start.  Even better would be to practice the basics in a more forgiving sim and then come over to AH.

Anyway, practice makes perfect.  Maybe just going around doing take-offs and landings offline or in the practice arena until you have those down pat would be a good idea.  There are some good books to read about flying and fighting combat aircraft once your basic flying skills get a little posished.  One I like is "Allied Fighter Aces of WWII (Air Combat Tactics & Techniques of WWII)" by Mike Spick.  You can order it from any of the internet booksellers.  There good info in there about tactics and maneuvers for just the sorts of aircraft we fly in Aces High.

I do not have the seperate CH throttle, but use the throttle on the USB fighter stick in combo with the pedals.

You are welcome for the map.  Hope it helps, and you can modify it to suit your needs easily enough in CH Control Manager.  Don't forget, you have to load it up in CH Control Manager after each time you boot the computer.
