Some more newbie questions

Do you have to level a town first and then drop your troops to get the air field.  Cause i was hitting the airfield thinking it had to be down first to get the town and all.  I had it backwards.

Thankds for the help

How to capture field...:p

1. Destroy VH
2. Destroy barrack at field
3. Knockout city and barrack inside city
4. Secure city and field (no acks, flaks and planes)
5. Send goons to maproom which is located at field or city
6. Field is captured :D

Here is a great site with tons of information: http://www.netaces.org/
and there are others as well. Some of them in the 'Links' section.

Dr Z's info is correct but the minimum required to capture an airfield, an A-xx base, is destroy the town completely and drop or land troops at the town. Drop altitude is 800 feet above the ground.
Of course if the fighter and vehicle hangers are still up you may encounter resistance, putting it mildly.
Capturing V or P bases is slightly different.

Ok I disagree with how to capture a field in the above post.

BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!!!!  All you need to do is have the town totally destroyed and drop 10 paratroopers that successfully make it into the map room.  THATS IT.

The other stuff is technique for field capture....good advice but technique only.

Ask some of the fellas that go for the snatch and grab method with a few fighters that have been heavily loaded (JABO) and a goon....Sneak in destroy the town with rockets bombs, bulletts....and then get the goon in.

This works when the enemy is unaware.

My 2 Cents....:)

Knock down Fighter Hangers and Vehicle Hanger from high altitude with Lanc or B17.  Do not hit barracks, fuel, ammo, etc.

Once hangers are down, send in JABO to de-ack the field and town, then jabo the town to dust.  As A/G ordinance is expended Jabo becomes top cover

Goons fly in as last building falls.

You now have a field with all facilites intact.  Should take 5 - 10 minutes tops from the time the high bomber starts dropping hangers.

I've only seen this done once, and it was amazing.

What i find funny... +)

A lone Lanc goes.. hmm that base is undefended I go hit it...  20 mins later text buffer:

ALL FH'S, VH down at A## GET IN THERE!!!!
wait 2 mins
ALL FH'S, VH down at A## GET IN THERE!!!!
wait 1 min
ALL FH'S, VH down at A## GET IN THERE!!!!

30 mins later...

Well I had A## all ready and noone listened to me....

If ya want to be a loner buff might i suggest the following:

Hit towns at bases
at least then if u want u can auger grab a goon and capture the whole thing alone. OR perhaps u will be able to find a single volunteer to goon for u.  The town stays down much longer than the hangars, as does the town ack.

Pork factories
Pork Cities
Pork HQ

Pork fuel, dar, barracks at several of the enemies 1st or 2nd row fields  (not under attack by your team at the time)

To capture a field with some defence:

Jabo the acks and VH
Jabo the town
Vulch until buffs arrive and drop FH's

And all the while have a goon standing by....

Not the quickest way, but the most fun for all, ya get some vulches, some attack, some buffin.
