Whine alert.......
« on: April 13, 2002, 08:09:44 AM »
Hi All,
For the 1st time last night I logged off a scenario well before the end more than a little pissed off when a player was allowed to re up after dying about one hour into the frame. I'm not going to even mention the players name because my beef is not with him in any way. He was killed because of what he considered a bug, and based on his say so he was cleared for take off.

This was shortly after an almost copy book death by myself (I had just landed to rearm on a CV). While sitting waiting for the rearm to complete the CV was put into some evasives because an incoming attack and I just slid off the deck (Brakes were on ) & blew up.

Fair enough. Possibly I was hit by a bomb or even straffed I don't know, either way I found myself in the tower and frame over. (I'm sure the logs will reveal the answer. But if it was a bug a successful landing score adjustment is all I would expect).

Almost every terrain we fly in has bugs (Not a critisism, just a fact of life). Live with it, I've seen scenario's where 30% of MAG 33 got wiped out because of a "Runway Quicksand Feature" in a previous TOD. No argument, It was fixed for the next frame but for that frame they were out. During invasion Sicily erroneous spawn points made some GV operations almost impossible. (I lost a life because of another Quicksand feature). Again.... live with it!

I don't want to turn this into a "Flamefest" but one life should mean one life. Players who CTD'd well into the frame are not allowed to re up. "Phantom4" got catapulted almost into orbit after a good landing on CV40, No re up. If your going to make the rules guys at least stick with em.

I know many people put themselves out to attend these and only completing 50% of a frame sucks but I have attended Every TOD since they started and for me it's a 4am start, (And a 4:05 finish in one or two cases). Seeing anomolies like last night just makes me wonder why I bother.

Having calmed down since the original draft (At 5:15am this morning). Apart from the above I had a blast.

Snafu, just private the CM of the frame (and/or the CO of the side you fly for) and let us know.  Incidently, the logs will reveal the re-up and points will not be awarded for the pilot.  Dare I say that any "targets" he hits will not be considered "Downed" either.

Agree with Snafu... "one life" is "ONE" life

I believe there is a brief "re-up" grace period and then relaunch is not available?

But after that....... dead should be dead.

The anomalies should be the random factor that existed in the war too. Some guys had engine failures and crashed shortly after takeoff, etc.

Like Snafu says, ya just live with it and come back for the next round.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Yeah, one thing that I'm glad AH doesn't model, is maintenance failures. But we don't have to worry about that, because of CTDs Discos and terrain bugs act in their place.

I hit the silk pretty early thanks to the "Target Fixation" bug thats in all the planes I've flown. Wonder when they're gonna fix that one?

Hehe Sikboy, I find the target fixation bug a real pain as well, Fortunately the "Check 6" patch saved my bellybutton several times last night, Thanks guys.

If I had of thought a possible re up was in the rules I might have requested it on private but I thought the rules were fairly explicit on this. I'm not complaining about dying or missing out on the rest of the frame, just the way it was handled.

I've calmed down now ;) all
