OK Friday nite TODers.....
« on: April 13, 2002, 09:37:58 PM »
We have a problem.

I would love to say that this was the fault of the servers, but its not so in this case.  I guess we have just been idle for too long or maybe I am getting senile early, but I forgot to start the logs last night.  I realized this at 1 hr and 15 mins into the event when I started going thru my mental checklist of what I had to do after the event in order to get it all closed down right.  When I reached 'close the logs', I went, "Oh $*&^!!!"  Sure enough...I forgot to open them.  I dont want to do the frame over because that would just waste more of Skernsks time coming up with a whole new battle plan for the frame.  So here is what we are going to do....

The frame was an obvious victory for the Allies due to the fact that they accomplished all 3 of their objectives...in some cases overdoing it a bit.  :)

We are awarding the Allies a total of 750 points for the 3 fields they hit (250 pts each).  The field is probably worth just a little more than that each but we are penalizing them for hitting fuel at 2 of the 3 fields.  They were specifically told in the orders to not destroy fuel and ammo dumps.

We are awarding the Axis a total of 450 points for the 3 ships that were sunk (150 pts each).

The problem we run into now is giving points for the kills.  There were a lot of Axis pilots killed by fleet ack, but at the same time there were a lot of Allied pilots killed by a few of the Axis guys (AKNimitz and Wotan had 10 just between the 2 of them).  Since there is no way to sort out who killed who and how many kills each guy got, we are awarding each side an additional 300 points (20 fighters x 15 pts each).

This is as fair as I can make it without negating the obvious win the Allies claimed by meeting their objectives.

I am very sorry for this screw-up and I have taken steps to assure that it wont happen again.  I have now tattooed "START LOGS" on my forehead backwards so that I can read it in the mirror that is on the wall next to the computer.

Thanks for understanding and I hope we can make the rest of this TOD fun for everybody.

So to recap...the score after frame one of Raid to Norway is:

Allies - 1050
Axis   - 750

You are hereby fired from your $150,000 a year job as Fri TOD planner and CM.

You are however, given one more chance at NO pay to run this thing again. If successful, we may give you ONE more after that.. but no pay, of course.

I can't believe you don't have my incredible mission on the logs.. 2 bombs on the A18 VH, at least 15 ack kills there, shot down 27 or so enemy fighters... and you forget to open the logs. Sheesh!

OK, I forgive you THIS time.

Too Bad, now i'll never know who that lone 109 was.

I just want to know. to who ever it was.

:( :( :(
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Sorry Nefari  :(

It wasnt a lone 109 who was flying along straight and level and didnt even attampt to manuver out of the way was it?

If it was, it was prolly me.  I was in the middle of opening and closing flight and trying to tell Skernsk at the same time what we were flying because he was late and got separated from the group.  I turned back toward them and while I was typing I got blown out of the sky.

Sling, squadrons were specified not to hit fuel, and as you said, 2 of 3 fields were hit.  Those squadron CO's were handed over to StSanta for dicipline (Envisions a skinny, leather underware-clad Santa with nose ring, nipple rings, holding a large leather crop)

Anyway, one way to handle that in this "Flexible Front" is to allow the allies use of the fields (Considered captured) but restrict fuel to 25% at said fields.  Just an idea.

Maybe reduce the fuel based on the percentage of available fuel hit?

If 4 tanks and only one hit, reduce to 75% fuel loads? Just a thought.

I'm ahead of you on this one Rip.  There will be some minor annoyances for the Frame 2 CO.  And Rip...look like German U-boats had some fun with you fleets.  I wonder where they are....out to sea, heading back to port, and the bottom of the North sea?

No this 109 was enagaged and we looped for at least 10-15 seconds before I exploded it.

It was me and Majtom, two hellcats vs 1 lone 109.

I was a lone hellcat vs two F6f's.

I did some looping and turning with one and I was killed while trying to "climb" out of trouble.  I knew I was dead and as a last resort I went up hoping to have the F6f stall and give me a chance to come down on it.

Woke up in the tower.

I know I was part of the 109G2 group that first engaged F4U's and F6F's. Went downhill fast. I shot down Acid's F4U, and then went round and round with swoops F6F. I disengaged to tryu and save a fellow squaddie, going low and losing my energy advantage..if you want to call it that. On the way down I had a blue plane chasing me (probably vulcan) and I treated my 109 like a jug and dove steeper, well into the drink I went, giving someone an easy kill.
