Massive Frame Rate hit with sunrise/sunset
« on: April 23, 2002, 09:06:40 AM »
I was wonering if anyone else had a problem with the sunlighting effects in AH during sunrise/set. I have a Hercules 3D prophet 4000 XT (PCI, Kyro 2 chipset) and at all resoulutions from 1024x768 downwards I can easily get 40+ FPS in almost all conditions. However when the sun is rising or setting I'm lucky if i can get 15fps which makes gameplay almost impossible unless i drop it down to 640x480 resolution. (the effect gets worse as the resolution increases) I have tried playing with the video options in AH to no avail. Any idea's/help guys???

P.S I do have the latest drivers for my card.

Everyone that has a Kyro based card has said the same thing.  I doubt HTC can do anything about it, it's an issue with that type of card (tile-based renderer).  (Which STMicro stopped production of a couple weeks ago...)

Your only hope is that newer drivers will fix this.
