BTW... if the thought process isn't clear...

mandoble... usually pro LW rides... writes a post comparing the lethality of a B-26 to the lethality of a Hurricane.   Both are planes he does not fly.

A flag is raised.

A quick check of stats confirms that he has flown neither plane... so the concern is not a result of experiencing the deficiencies of hurricane handling.  A glimpse also reveals that mandoble has spent a large portion of his flight time in LW rides.  Then the suprising number:

Mandoble has 185 kills and has been killed 11 times in the Fw 190D-9.

Wow... impressive numbers.  But why the snide B-26 post?  Hmmm... let's check something else...

Mandoble has 1 kill and has been killed 1 time in the Fw 190D-9 against the B-26B.

Damn...  I guess I'd rather be labled childish than simple.

...which reminds me, the P51D is unfair.

I'll leave it to DejaVu to figure out why  :D

Mandoble how many Hurricane IID's do you see in the arena?  I see "0".  I see more B26's and that might be why the B26 has a better K/D.

AKDejaVu, not, you are not a child, you are a four bits processor with 16k or RAM, absolutely obsessed with statistics, but above number 15 you are absolutelly lost (and that if unsigned).

Bwt, last time I was killed by a B26, as far as I remember, was by a landing one (or at least I seems so). My point is not related to those that use the B26 like a bomber, but to those that simply take off with one and no bombs just to provide the best possible CAP against goon attemps. Obviously, you will reply that this is historically accurate cause you saw that and that TV "pink" program that blah blah blah ...

I'd respond mandoble.. but I don't understand a word you just said.

Oh.. wait... I did understand this:

What I fail to understand.. is how this has absolutely anything to do with what you posted above.  Mainly because you didn't mention anything in regards to use, goons or base defense anywhere in this thread.

Sure sounds like someone trying to make excuses now.  I didn't think I hit that close to home.  Its o.k. mandoble.. it'll get bigger when the hair starts to pop up.

ROFLOL AKDejaVu, your posts are funnier and funnier each time.
My first post was more than clear for those that have more than 4 bits to think.

Mandy just likes to try to shame people with the "you're a child" line. Which is funny to anyone who has kept up on this forum. But with DJ in here, it's like the irrelevant force vs. the Illogical object. Should be fun to watch.

Yeah, I've noticed something like that myself around here.. but it wasn't the US planes that were the object of veneration.

WTG MANDOBLE :D

mipoikel has 4 kills and has been killed 0 times in the Fw 190D-9 against the B-26B. :D

mipoikel has 52 kills and has been killed 14 times in the Fw 190D-9.

Rest of my stats sucks...:o

B26 is hard to kill if there is good pilot in it. It is fast and turns well. Yesterday I hardly get one in F4U. I think B26's good K/D is because some newbies are trying to kill it from 6. (me too sometimes)  :D

Mandoble...Why is it bad for someone to take up a B26 to escort a C47 if they so desire?

I disagree. I find B-26 the toughest buff to kill. From my experience, this is caused, mainly, because it turns very well, and is very fast. Bearing in mind the rest of the planeset, I think its flight model is right. The reasons why it is a formidable killer related, indirectly, to that. The ability to steer the plane from gun stations, plus the absence of G-force effects on the gunner makes the gunner job FAR too easy on any Buff.

Add to that the difference in lethality any buff has over any fighter(except Ju88) both in terms of range, ROF, ballistics and stability as a gun platform, and you got it. A fast, manouvering plane, extremely stable gun platform, not affected by G-forces (on the gunner task), and able to point each and every gun able (some times out of the real firing arc) to see the target, even through surfaces, to a single one, even in a multiple bogey environment.

Cheers,

Pepe
