Is this supposed to be room only or operate like AHV Range/Room?

I always thought it was supposed to be like AHV Range is. When in the tower it's Room, talking only to those in the same tower. When in flight it's Range, talking to everyone inside a certain distance (always though the range was 25-30miles).

Earlier today I was flying south of P21 on the ndisles map and a couple of folks were talking on channel 3. Didna recognize the names as friendlies I had seen around P21 so I asked'em where they were. They had just rolled out of A8, some 60-70 miles north (about 2.5sectors from my current position).

It appears that text channel 3 room carries over to when you launch, and contines to act as room only, transmitting only to the people who have launched from the same tower as you.

Only reason I noticed this today was I had flown all over the southeast part of the map, refueling 3 or 4 times during the sortie.

would be nice if text channel 3 was tied into the same range as vox range

At first I thought it was a ranged channel too, until I read the help.

HT any odds on getting channel 3 to work like AHV range/room, but with a little longer range? (say like 15 miles or so?)
