I always liked his music, especially after I found out he was a US Army Airborne paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne before his music career...

Are you talking about Jimi's father, Udie?

Yes Dux :(

I saw an interview with him about 10 years ago.  He seemed like a very nice old dude.  He was very proud of his son.

His future would've certainly been interesting with what I've read about the direction he planned to go.  Though Jimi had a much bigger impact on music, I also wonder where Randy Rhoads may have gone.  He really only had barely more than 1-yr in the industry.  But I'm just a drummer, so what do I know.  :-)
