GVs at a disadvantage
« on: April 22, 2002, 01:28:42 AM »
I just realized why GVs are at such a disatvantage in the game.  The map is compressed so people dont drive 5 hours to find 1 fight.  This means that the natural rise/run of terrain is significantly more agressive than IRL.  GVs need a climb modifier added to thier performance based on the compression of the map.  This would negate, them getting bogged on a hill while trying to get to a town lessn a mile away, that the base is supposed to defend.

I think GVs already climb better than RL.  Might be interesting to have roads that GVs could follow, where they could go faster and climb steeper than they would on other terrain.  Their advantage would be offset by additional risk of being spotted by the enemy.

I agree. IMO, vehicles should be allowed a MININUM of 50% of max speed when climbing a hill. This would move the action along and make gv's more enjoyable.

The "speed bonus" for vehicles travelling on a road is a fantastic idea. This furthers the realistic "convoy" or grouping that was common among large troop movements and is offset by the easier visibility of such movement on a road. It doesnt have to increase already established speeds, just partially negate the slowdown of hills and terrain.
Fantastic!!

LOL! And the Star Trek like spawn points aren't enough?
What if, GVz were to have this speed modifier and then spawn to a point only to have a hill in front of the spawn point? :) Hell, just slap it into the Big Four dubyah D and take that lil ole hill in nothing flat. Then we can have armed 4 dubyah D vehicle combat around a town or field thats got sriens goin off and auto acks exploding all over the place. :D
Yeah! I'm liking this already.:D
