Just last night, I was patting myself on the back at the beautiful rope I just pulled... look back... 750... 650... tracers... 600... wow, he must be going 5mph straight up on his prop... ping...  ... look back... his wingtips waggle and he FINALLY falls off.  They sure do climb don't they ;)

If the spits hanging on his prop and pinging you then its a safe bet you used too much vertical and not enough turn.
Btw the reason for doing a left climbing turn is the spits prop rotation helps it turn right >>>>>>.
However your plane goes better to the left  <<<<<<<  so use your advantage whilst denying the spits his, forcing him to climb in a spiral turn accelerates the point of departure for the spitfire or at least you hope so :)
Of course if you try it to the right your asking for trouble.

A last question, specific to the A5 since that has slowly evolved into my favorite plane in my few months with AH.

Can anyone hammerhead the A5?  With combat trim on, which I suppose might be my problem, I can take the A5 vertical till I am hanging on the prop and then kick the rudder over hard.  At this point I am expecting the propwash to push it over and my reverse to begin.  But I find that it doesn't want to kick over, instead it just sort of falls over backwards gently and I roll out about 90 degrees off where I started.  Am I doing something wrong or is this just a manuver it does not do well?

(And this whole thing started with a poem.)

No joy there Mudd. I have been trying to get an A5 to do exactly what you are asking for many moons in AH. I am not sure why it does not happen but it likes to "flop" (as I call it) onto it's back and allow me to regain flight control relatively quickly. One bit of advice don't try that manuever around any enemy plane. You will be wreckage pretty quickly if you do it that way.
