Thanks Wotan.

Sorry, my bad. Saw the pictures but not the tags. Misidentified the A20G Havoc as an A26 Invader.

Anyone have specs on how the FM-2 differs from the original F6F? I know that the FM-2 was the later version and produced till '45 but don't have actual specs for the plane to hand.

Glad to see the PAC planeset filling out. Looking forward to the SBD and some Japanese dive bombers/torps so we can play Midway. :)

I thought the FM-2 was a variation (or maybe the same thing) on the F4F.

Man its my day for typos it seems.

Sorry I meant F4F not F6F (Hellcat). The FM-2 was a later variant of the F4F which continued to be used as it was smaller than the Hellcat and could take off from the shorter flight decks of the "Jeep" Escort CVs. The FM-1 & 2 were sometimes called the "Wilder Wildcats" as they had a more powerful engine (Wright R-1820) yet weighed less than the original wildcat.

I finally found the critical Spec differences between the original F4F-4 and the FM-2 in my library:

Max Speed: 318 (F4F) vs. 332 (FM-2)
Armament: 6X.50cals, 200lbs of Bombs (F4F) vs. 4X.50cals, 6XHVARs or 500lbs Bombs (FM-2)

Range and Climb rates also improved. While the FM-2 had one less gun :( per wing, it did have a higher ammo load per gun :) .

BTW - Mitsu, where did you get these pictures you mention.

FM-2 was made by General Motors (now makers of some of the FINEST trucks I have ever seen) when Grummen switched over all there plants to Hellcat production. The same thing happend with the TBF,when Grumman started to switch over to all Hellcat, Gm picked up and made the TBM that we have in Aces! Without the Wildcat and TBM suporting the F6F and F4U and the Helldiver, the carrer forces weould be streched to thin!
My little nugget of the day:D

lol

exactly what we needed 4 more US/UK birds.

hell the JAF and russian plane sets both miss very important planes and we are getting a couple of more freaking US planes.

Ki-84 missing badly, same with a russian bomber (TU-2 prefered).

And now don't tell me Boston flew in the russain AF too, i know it but they still a western design.

Naudet,

We did need these US planes.  The RAF and Luftwaffe planesets are pretty good, but the US planeset completely lacks any early war representation.

We need:

Japanese aircraft from all time periods.
Russian aircraft, particularly early war, but some late war.
American early war aircraft.
An Italian aircraft or two.
A French aircraft or two.
Petals floating by,

             As she remembers me-

Over 3,000 A20's served with the VVS where as only  1,013 Tu2's were produced prior to the end of the GPW, fewer saw action.......

actually the Pe 2 is the most representative  Russian medium bomber (over 10,570 built)............ Tu 2 is just prettier and a bit faster.
