Some problems with vehicles
« on: April 21, 2002, 11:41:11 PM »
#1 ~ Running at slight inclines.
Lately I have noticed that my maxium speed can be totally inhibited by running at even a tiny incline/decline. For example, spawning from a VH to a AF, the airfield is located ahead to the right, which causes me to travel sideways along a mountain with a 2% grade maximum. The tank wont go over 10mph.

#2 ~ Dieing/Exploding hitting trees at 1mph.
I'm sorry, but this it total crap. If a tank his a tree going 26mph, shrug maybe it would knock the tank out. But 1 mph?  Exploding? This is totally and completely unrealistic. Please fix it!

#1 - Go backwards...it works with the M16, dunno why, but when you can go backwards up a hill faster than you can forward.  Prolly a glitch.

#2 - This is a game, trees make you explode, that's part of the game, don't hit trees, you'll explode.
Three Times One Minus One.  Dayum!

Well, I don't know what tree in particular you hit, but when when we know an enemy vehicle is approaching, a bunch of us will run out of the barracks and tie mines to tree trunks as part of our airbase defense program. :p

Panzers and AFV's avoided trees in reality... why shouldn't you? +)

Seriously though.. watch where you are going...

There's no reason to be like that.

Did you even read what I wrote? I was going 1 MPH. I was just in its proximity and it made me explode.

There's no excuse or reason for that whatsoever. And for your information, tanks did not always avoid trees. In fact, sometimes they were used to push them down.

Bota, the problem you are experiencing is NOT something new...

We all know the problem exists, every HTC employee knows it exists.
Constantly bringing it up isn't likely going to change anything...  Its likely on HT's list and its such a minor beef I hope its loooow on that list.

You shoulda been around when sheep killed AFV's +)

I have been playing this game for a long, long time :)

It may be minor, but as someone who loves vehicles its not minor to me. How  hard would it be to instert a line of code that says

If the vehicle is not traveling in excess of 20mph when it hits the tree, then vehicle does not take damage?

Yeah, I gotta agree.  I think at some point a tank should be able to bust down a tree, and in so doing be able to clear a path for vehicles behind it.  I for one would like to see more ground involvement, with possibly the introduction of the Sherman tank as faster than a Panzer but less lethal and more susceptible to damage.  I think it would make ground warfare more viable.
