DoA was awesome.

AcesHigh will NEVER be completed without ALL eras eventually making it in (can you say JOB SECURITY :)

A simple arena with a few birds would suffice:
Sopwith
Spad
Niewport
Albators
Dr1
Dr7 (or whatever the hell that was, great looking)

Another arena with a Mig15 and F86 would kick bellybutton as well

I would love just about any time period through Vietnam.  After that, air to air is more about who fires the missle first.   I agree, though, that if you spread yourself too thin, everything will suffer because of it.  I would much rather have an excellent wwII sim that is constantly updated and supported.  If a time period is added, though, I think I would prefer Korean war era stuff.  I certainly wouldn't turn up my nose at a WWI arena though.

I became much better at ACM flying the old crates than I ever would have doing WWII alone. The edge in performance between all the birds was finer, and you had to outhink the other guy more than you do in AH. One wrong move in DoA and you had a spin that cost you 1,000 feet or your ride...

...and there are no chutes...

I agree with Yeager, a simple arena would be great, though I know it won't happen (nor do I expect it to).

DOA was a blast, had a lot of fun in there flying the old birds & the Zep.

Really liked the way they setup up arty spotting.

With a bit of practise you could level a field nicely with arty, finish up with zep for capture.

S!

Yesyesyesyesyesyesyes!!!   :)

I love flying a Camel versus a Dr1.

Only trouble with WWI is that the amount of performance data available is quite limited, and a lot of `seat of the pants`, guestimating has to happen.

Things like roll rate or acceleration were not tested.

Engine horsepower ratings were not exact.

Plus the exact effect of rotary engine torque on turnrate and propensity to spin is difficult to ascertain.

But heck, you can get pretty close with all the reports from the replicas flying around.

Worth a try.

No one else is doing it...

And there are still a lot of RED BARON flyers out there who are hungering for a new Sim.  (like me)  ;)

It was tough for me to choose between DOA and AH...
I enjoyed DOA very much, I prefered it over the gameplay that we have here. But it lacked my friends which were flying in AH.

I would love to see a DOA version of this game.  You can bet that I would spend most of my time there.  But in this crowd we have people begging for B29s.... The mindset is not the same.

How many "Flying Circus" guys we have in here? DoA? RB3D? I can remember when DoA had 60-90 guys at night. It dwindled down to around 40 by the time I left, but remember this was a time when 200 in the MA was a big deal. There definitely was interest, but the same planes in place by 1.3 are still there, and the game play didn't change at all. Without new maps, or new planes, or new ways to play it was bound to get stale sooner or later...

DoA was the most fun I ever had in MMOGs.

I enjoyed my 6 months in DoA (aka Camelbirds); flew all the planes, but loved the DR1 (and the Runstang, I mean SE5).    Good community there too.  I think our best bet will be Target:Flanders.  I would rather see HiTech put all his resources into AH

Tried AW3's ww1 arena and what a horrible thing that was...   love to see HT take rb3d into MMOPG status though +)

Got my bellybutton handed to me for a long long time in DOA, but loved the heck out of it still!
It did get old, seeing a sky full of Camels (reminds me of AH and the Spits and Nikis), but I still had a blast.
I heard they finally fixed the DVII's glass tail.  Was about damn time.  Historically, the DVII was a very dangerous opponent, and it couldn't live up to it's potential in DOA due to the aforementioned tendency to lose it's rudder at the drop of a hat.
I too wish we could someday see HTC develop a WW1 sim along the lines of AH.
But I'd much rather see AH developed more before they did it.
