Calling all Goons.....
« on: April 26, 2002, 09:34:39 AM »
During the RJO last evening the =Ghosts= still logged on were circling above A37 wondering how three of us were going to deal with the 17-18 Bish fighters swarming below. Then we see some messages in the buffer that cracked us up.

"Kill 37 city, goon inbound".

"We need a backup goon for 37."

"Kill the ack and vulch them."

"We need Goons at 37, now"

Who's "we"? I didn't see them anywhere near 37. There were no other Rooks but =Ghosts= over 37 at that time. The only designated "leaders" I saw were Hammer and Deman who arrived shortly thereafter.

Meanwhile, all of the fighter hangers are still up, and we had been repeatedly calling for Buffs and Jabos, while turning around the Goons before they get whacked. The =Ghosts= lost several fighters, fighting more or less alone for a while. Help was on the way, but we needed Goons like a hole in the head. We now had to protect the Goons rather than take the battle to the fighters.

Rant time:
I really wish that the tin-horn wannabe generals would do a bit more than issue orders. Like actually showing up for the fight. When they demand that the field be de-acked, why is it that I NEVER see their sorry tulips down there in the flak? Hell, last night I didn't see any of them until the most of the enemy fighters were dead. Not that this is a surprise.

I have no use for self-appointed leaders, who did not organize the operation, who are not designated by the operation commander or are squad COs, and who don't bother to go to the target. These guys only cause confusion. Do me a favor, shut up! The rest of you should ignore these turkeys, and pay attention to your Op CO and squadron leaders. They were leading by example, up front, in the fights, where they made decisions based up the realities of the battle.
Rant complete.

Finally enough Buffs and fighters arrived to beat down the Bish, who were deperately and effectively defending the base. Still, we don't see the self-appointed generals.... Ah, there they are, up high, safe and sound. "In the rear with the gear", so to speak.

Listen folks, keep the C-47s away from fields until called for by someone who is actually at the site. Sending them before they're needed is a liability, not an asset. Find a safe place to hide, wait, and don't bunch up. The chances of "sneaking" one in are very slim. However, the chances that the Goons will get whacked is very high, not to mention, protecting those Goons diverts fighters and Jabos from the goal of killing and capping the field.

BTW, last evening's Operation Slap Happy RJO was a great success, demonstrating once again that when the Rooks organize, and have equality in numbers, we simply crush the opposition.

Kudos to Ghost Dancer (our fearless leader) and the particpating squads:
81st KrEwSaDeRz
AirMAgeddon
Cactus Air Force
Flying Tigers AVG
JG27
NightHawks VA-185
Nightmares VMF-101
Rampaging Rooks of Retribution
327th Steel Talons
412th Fighting Brauncos
=Ghosts=

And to all those not mentioned, but who pitched in where they were needed, .

A special thanks to HiFlyer who cleared my 6 at least twice.

My regards,

Widewing

Wise words, I agree.
