Computer Question
« on: April 28, 2002, 11:36:46 PM »
A while back someone on this board posted a website that listed many common programs that could be running in a computer's background and what they do (and maybe how to disable them if necessary.)  I tried to search this BBS, but could not find it.  Same for a web search.  Anyone here know of such a site?  Would appreciate the help.  (I have a few that run in the background that I have no idea what they do and what kind of resources they are taking up.)

The spyware discussion?

Look for a thread called "Kazaa" in the O'Club.. it's on the second page I think.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Adaware software is provided by the Lavasoft.org web site. Good stuff to clean out your computer from spyware.

he's talking about this I think...
it's a list of application abbreviations used by windows for running processes.
(so you know what you can shut down with CTRL_ALT_DEL)

Pick the TASK LIST on the right side.
Then search by letter.
