Blue Flash on bottom of screen
« on: May 14, 2002, 09:47:38 PM »
I forget what the cure is for this problem.  Is it the FR the game is capped to or the driver version I am using?  I run AH in 1024x768x32.  I am deliberately running slightly older drivers so that I keep some display functions which were left out on newer versions.

System:

P3 733MHz 190MB SDRAM
Win 98SE
GeForce 2 MX400 AGP 64MB Vid card with older Nvidia drivers (21.83?)

What driver version caused the blue flash?

You try using the Detonator XP ver. 28.32 yet?  If the driver you listed above is what caused the blue flash, it's probably because they are the older 6.50 version.  That particular version are the old Detonator 2 drivers primarily used for TNT2 and the original GeForce and Geforce 256 cards.

A good interim step may be the 7.78 drivers.  I find them to be the most stable for the older cards... see if they have the features you need and solve the flashing as well.

Go to http://www.guru3d.com and get detonator destroyer for removing all traces of old drivers when you switch version in Win9x/ME.

Thanks guys, I'll try a newer driver.  I have D/L'ed drivers only a couple of months ago but they removed the software adjustment of brightness, contrast and gamma, effectively making night time flying in AH impossible.  I'll be sure to get the detonator destroyer too, sounds like a handy tool.

D'l RivaTuner, it gives you all the options back (gamma, v-sync, etc.).

Thanks for the replies guys.  I DL'ed the det destroyer and rive tuner and updated my drivers again so no blue flash and I have brightness and gamma settings again.  Thanks!
