Only planes I miss from Warbirds are the warbirds P38's and the B25-H.  The warbirds P38's are much more nimble and compress alot differently.   Hell if I know either is right, but I did correspond with a WW2 p38/p47 vet back when on the compression issue and dive brakes/flaps.  According to him compression wasn't that big an issue Iat all IRL due to the way the P38 was actually used

It does seem odd to me though that the AH verison shakes so at medium alts when the plane had a service ceiling of 40,000 feet.

Now that you mention it, I have had the P-38 shaking like mad at 470 mph under 5,000 feet. That should not be the case, as this is nowhere near critical Mach at that height, which should be nearer to 510 mph. Hmm.....

Compression was an issue for P-38 pilots that flew in the ETO, where operational altitudes were above 20,000ft.  In the PTO and MTO, where operational altitudes were below 20,000ft, compression wasn't that much of a problem.  The P-38 would only compress in dives started above 20,000ft.
