Most incredible sensation of 'being there'...
« on: March 13, 2001, 10:14:00 AM »
Was yesterday afternoon...took off in an Arado, at approx. 4am Arena Time (was night time)....as I approached the large block of grey matter (Yes, I'm assured they will fix that graphic glitch) the sun just started to show colors on the horizon as I entered the unbelieveable cloud patterns within the 'storm'....alittle 'buffet' at 16k woke me up!  Hello!  This is too friggin' realistic!

Busting out on top of the storm, with the sounds of the jets whining in my head set, the sunrise was now about 5 min from hitting the horizon.  The colors of the sunrise, the swirling cloud formations all around me as I transitioned from a 'foggish' like cloud bank to the tops, was something that was so incrediable that words don't do it justice.  I 'felt' like I was really there.  Alas, the sunrise is in full swing behind me, the moon is setting in front of me, the storm is about 500 feet below me, the stars are twinkling lightly, by God theres the Big Dipper!...and in the back ground "Stairway to Heaven" coo's lightly ....an unbelieveable experience that I will not soon forget.  Glad I recorded it.

Edit: I got so excited by this sortie I order a new Geforce2 video card I was planning on getting next month!

Rip,
You've got everything there except...."enjoys long walks on the beach and watching the Lifetime Channel".

Is this a combat simulation or a place to "watch the submarine races".  hehe

Cobra

BTW, that storm overcast just rocks to do bombing missions in.

I got my first Lancaster kill in a 51D due to the storm situation.  hehe

Good aar Ripsnort.  I know what you mean about the immersion with the new features!  I've experienced some of that too.

Best immersion I ever had was in a Snapshot (Busc was CM, but I don't remember the name of the snapshot, ahem...  )

We were at least 20+ Zekke's taking off on the Western side of the previous map, right between twoo hills, with Clouds and an Orange Glow all over the place

Arrado landings are pretty nice too!

When I was younger I hated going to weddings.
It seemed that all of my aunts and the grandmotherly types used to  come up to me, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, "You're next."
They stopped that stuff after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals.

I have about 50 screenshots of different planes in my AH directory, The views are sometimes so beautifull that I need to change planes course to get a good angle to sunrise or dawn

btw here are some screenshots of P-51 in clouds and actually some guy accused that I manipulated those ones...

Staga, my screen shots don't do my in-game any justice!  This one looks crappy compared to what I see in the film.  I need to get a good photo editor.
