Clipboard in Hangar
« on: May 09, 2002, 11:43:52 AM »
Why is it still not possible to program the clipboard in a way,
so that it would be not possible to activate something behind the clipboard if you click on it.

Almost everyone ended up more than one time with 25% fuel over his target or with the wrong bombload, or droptanks instead of rockets.

That it is possible to hide the selective items in the hangar, HTC showed us with the radio window.
That one you have to move from one corner to another to change the loadout of your plane

By the way, the radio window is quite useful in the tower or the maproom, but inside the hangar it's unnecessary.

Normally I would post something like that in the Bug Board.
But this annoyance exists since the first day I subsribed to HTC, so want to give it a little more attention ;)

Hi tofri,
Not really got any firm feelings either way on the clipboard issue but I have to say the radio window is very useful in the hanger. :) You might want to check out the various "dot" commands available. You can set your plane up completely using these ".fuel" etc you can even select the plane you want. If you fly a particular plane a lot it's worth making a note of them. That way you don't even need to click the mouse to get yourself in the air.

Can you say 'PRE-FLIGHT CHECK'?

About 15 seconds is all it takes, and that's if your slow...

1. Cycle through fuel tanks to make sure they are correct. (Press a few times)

2. Cycle through weapon loadouts to make sure they are correct. (Press and <\> a few times)

If you get all the way to target before you realize you have no fuel left, you deserve to get shot down.

Yes.... the point....  :)  Thing is, to launch we need to bring up the clipboard and click on the required spawn point, right?  It is at this point that clicking on the runway spawn (or tower) that the incorrect loadout is inadvertenly happening if the point clicked is directly in front of one of the options.  For example, once in a TOD, at least three of us in our squad chose 100% fuel in Mossies;  however, when going back to the Tower to wait for launch, the clipboard was directly in front of the 25% fuel option and we accidentally set the fuel to 25% as we clicked on the Tower button; this remained un-noticed until part-way across the North Sea when one by one we all ran out of fuel and had to ditch - very embarrassing in our first ever TOD frame!  :o

Weird.  Been flying this sim since tour 1 and I've NEVER changed my fuel loadout by inadvertantly clicking the tower button.....or any other.  In fact I wasnt aware that it was possible to reigister a click on something behind the clipboard while trying to click on the clipboard itself.

Is this a new bug?

Midnight,

Damn never thought of a pre flight check. Good thing we got geniuses like you lurking the boards to learn us ignart yokels the ways of workin those fancy new fangled flyn machines. Hey let me ask ya...should I put those round rolley things that come out the bottom of the long flappy things down before I try to drive back on the ground?? :D

I think the idea was to fix the problem so that we don't have to mess with a preflight which will sooner or later get missed while yacking with a squadie, grabing a swig of yer beer, talking trash on Ch1 etc...

But it is good to know that you have a firm grasp on the obvious :p
