Whhhhizzzzzzz........ Plop!
Ok, confession time.
LOL! I wonder how many of you actually sat around and typed in .plane XXX for a couple of hours trying to find the mystery Mig

I bet its a whole lot more than would admitt too it (not even counting all the guys that read the board but don't post).
To clear up a few things.
1.) Its a Mig21F, the last Soviet Fighter ever made with out guided missles. First production was in 1958 (only a couple hundred made), and it was followed very shortly by the upgraded Mig21F-13 which included heat seeking rear quarter missles. The Mig21 is the most widely produced jet fighter ever.
2.) I was honest when I said that I didn't take that Mig from any other game or off the internet. Its my own original 3D model, and my own UV texturing. Its never been in any game, release, beta, or otherwise. I did it to see if I could learn how to do it.

My Thanks to some of the other flight sim enthusiasts who've answered my dumb questions over the past month !! My texturing still needs some serious work though, I can't get the weathered dirty look right yet.
3.) Its about 2,500 polys which includes working gears, control surfaces, flaps, gear doors (or which it 6), and 3 speed brakes. It would easily be under 1,800 polys, but the Mig21 has more blisters and bulges than a $3 crack potato (makes it very distinctive visually). This is probably a few more than used in AH, but within what is currently being used in some games (my understanding).
4.) To get the pics I posted, I first took screenshots in AH of the P-51D and the Yak (same general coloration as my Mig) in various positions. I then keep an original copy, and then edited out the AH plane in Photoshop. Then I used the edited AH screenshot as a backdrop in the rendering software, and careful adjusted my camera distance and lighting to very precisely match the original screenshots. FYI the lighting is nearly a perfect match and from the correct easterly direction in AH (ie the sun), so if you'd take the screenshots yourself, they would look very close.
LOL! In fact if you look at the one that Edbert posted ( Bad Edbert! Bad Edbert ! Only the squad was suppose to see that one

) you will actually see the Yak-9U wingtip sticking up behing the aircraft , right behind the canopy. It almost looks like the shadow of the Mig antenna mast.
5.) Didn't anyone look at the filenames of the pics? Eagle Claw, Stren, and Zebco ? Hook.... Line.... and Sinker..... hehehehehehe.
One Damn Fine Troll if I do say so myself !!!
