Hello everyone!

Since this is my first posting, I'll keep it simple and short.

I am new - my online name is Fork.  I am used to flying online with SDOE, IL2, and with a wide range of other sims. I do have a couple of comments and questions I would like help with from you guys...

First of... what a great planeset.  Who's building them? Nate and Fly? Wow.  I tried Warchicks, I mean Warbirds, but the flight model seems lame. WW2OL - what flight model?!? Bravo HT.  Your flight model and lag-free play is leaps and bounds ahead of WWII-Online and WB.

Second - amazing planes - La-7, the Nik-2 and the Spit IX. Wow. These birds accelerate and turn on rails.  Nik is a little slow but has GREAT cannons (hispanos?). La-7 is a fuel pig but 400MPH on the deck. WOO HOO! Spit IX - classic dogfighter.  Personally, I'm going to stick with harder planes to fly like the 51, F6F, Spit V and the La-5. I don't want to be labelled as 'dweeb'? Is that right?

Third - I noticed the maps are a little 'small' for a massive multiplayer game. Over 400 guys online last night it was hard to get into a one-on-one dog fight.  Are there plans for larger maps?

Fourth - how does the perk point system work?  I read the online help, but it was a little vague.  How do I get PP quickly?

Finally - I noticed a lot of you fly with squads.  Is it recommended that I fly with a squad?

Cheers guys

The perk system is fairly simple,
You use perks to fly perk planes, you lose those perks only if you fail to safely land the plane at an airfield.

In air combat, the perks you earn is equal to the ENY of your plane divided by the ENY of the plane you killed.  At the end of the sortie it's run through a multipler based on how it's finished.  If you land safely, it's 1.25, and it's lower if you die/bail/ditch.

The higher the eny of your plane, the more perks you get.

First- Agreed the FM is very good.

Second- The harder planes accrue Perks much faster.

Third-Check out the CT arena. Early war birds in smaller numbers. Mucho fun.

Fourth-re: Second

Finally-  I would have gotten bored and quit a long time ago if not for squad and CT.  Find a squad that flies what and how you do and join up.

Hi and Welcome :)

You are right the planes is great, and more are added at an incredible speed.
You are also right in that the maps are small, I`ve been told that new maps, twice the size is not so very far away, maybe the next release. (I hope)

Perkpoints are awarded when you shoot down enemyplanes.
You get more points, after how good the enemyplane is compared with your plane.
Example: you fly spit 1 and kills a spit IX you might get 2 points, but if the situation is the opposite, and you in your spit IX kills a Spit 1 you might just get 0.3 og 0.5 points.
You get lesser points if you get shot down, or ditch.

When you have flown for a while you might have collected enough points to buy an uberplane like ME 262 or Spit14 or equal.
Perkplanes costs between 6 and 200 perkpoints.

If you dont manage to land your perkplane safely at an friendly airfield, you loose the perkpoints, so be careful when flying those expencive planes.

If you are in a squad, it is usually more fun to fly, just find a squad that suits you :)

Have Fun :D

You smell that? Do you smell that?
Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

Squads make a huge difference.  When you're flying with a squad, you can usually find somebody else to help with whatever effort you want to undertake.  If you don't know what you feel like doing, get on the squad VoX channel and ask what everybody else is up to.  Your squad mates will be able to answer your questions, help you out if you're having problems, save your butt when you get a pesky Niki on it, and joke around with you.

Make sure you fly with each country a while.  That way you can get to know people from all of the countries.  Talk to people in  squads.  When you find one that seems like your type of people, ask them if you can fly with them.  Make sure their squad night is on a night you can fly.  Don't worry so much about how skilled they are as much as how much fun they are to fly with.  Don't be in a hurry either.  Find a squad that is a good fit for you and where you are a good fit for them.

Welcome to AH!

Mister Fork

Welcome to AH!! I would like to chip in about squads.  Joining a squad is usually a good thing - free wingmen/wingwomen, people to learn from, and good company.  But there are many types of squads. The names sometimes give a clue.  For example, the 308 (Polish) RAF might have a different slant on the game than the Fat Drunk Bastards (hmm, bad example -we don't LOL).  Some squads are Main Arena - mucho players, mucho chaos, multi-con fights everywhere.  Some are Combat Theatre - fewer people, quasi-historical matchups.  Some are Special Event squads (Tour of Duty).  Fly with quite a few people, find out where your main interest is, and then start looking for those squads.  And have fun!!
