Long list of gameplay wishes...
« on: May 13, 2002, 03:52:43 AM »
#1 ~ Fine-tune scoring issues
 a. Planes on runways shouldn't get proximity kills
 b. Repeated Vulch kills should be worth less than standard dog-fight kills.
 c. Kills should be awarded immediately after fatal damage is done, NOT after plane hits ground or pilot ejects.
 d. Kills should be awarded after you die, memory of your damage should not be wiped for 5-10minutes.
 e. Assists should be partial kills, and assists eliminated
 f. VEHICLES SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO JUST "DITCH" NEAR THEIR FIELDS AND DEPRIVE THE VICTOR OF A VICTORY ~ Only "ditch" if they are on a runway/hanger.

#2 ~ Fix Ground Vehicle Issues
 a. Trees should not kill tanks/armor, period.
 b. Vehicles should NEVER start on an up-grade
 c. Vehicle time-to-target should be reduced or at least equalized with all the 2-minute "we start on a downhill slope" lamers
 d. Swing time of GV machine guns should be increased, it takes way too long to swing
 e. Re-supply should not fix things like broken engine, gun ~ it should resupply ammo only

#3 ~ More ground vehicles/options
 a. Add an American/British tank
 b. Allow GV's to pick appropriate colors (green, yellow)
 c. Add Artillery units near fields, and mobile artillery

#4 ~ Winter terrains / colors
 a. Allow planes/vehicles to choose winter colors too

#5 ~ General Gameplay Issues
 a. When you land on a carrier, it should automatically reload you (not wait for 30 seconds) and replace you on the catapult/launch. Its unfair that landing often results in loss of your sortie or death due to game problems and not your own fault.
 b. Make sure that GV assaults are possible from many more bases than currently. Some of the existing maps plain suck for GV.
 c. Its incredibly lame that if someone cuts into my line of fire while im on a bogey (to steal my kill), my own plane gets damaged. The current hit-your-self rule should only count if you are on the ground or something. Its unrealistic and punishes the wrong people.
 d. Make the vehicle spawn insertion points a bit more random. Camping spawn points is so incredibly unrealistic, it really ruins the realism otherwise provided.
 e. The ability to shoot at and through Vehicle Hangars is messed up. When you shoot at a VH facing it open (i.e. youre coming at it with it looking like |-----|, you cannot hit it well, very often your shots go right into the dirt). When you are coming at it from the side (i.e. with it looking like |||||||||||||, you can shoot through the walls and damage VH inside but their shots are blocked by their own walls)

I see alot of your requests/suggestions for the future revolve around the ground war.

I too want more ground war.  I like the idea of a virtual battlefield (World War 2 Online is too ambitious and unfinished).

Aces High can do better, but it needs some work to get there.

1.  Treelines.  Not individual trees that just sit there for looks.  We need something that actually works for cover.  A wall that is a kilometer long, no width, and 10 meters tall.  The smoke rounds don't cut it, although they make a good starting point.  Make permanent versions of them on the ground as treelines.

2.  More vehicles for Allied representation.  The T-34 or the Sherman ought to be good, as is the German Sdkfz 251 halftrack for an Axis troop delivery vehicle.  Perhaps even let players play as the infantry in the form of squads.

3.  Put all the strategy and non-flying warfare in the WW-2 arena, and take it away from the main arena.  You want war?  Play war.  You want a quick fix, play the main.

4.  All supplys flow via convoys.  No convoy, no rebuild.  No rebuild at capture either.  CONVOY ONLY.

5.  Cargo ship fleet/convoy.

6.  Upgrade the warship gunnery from turret control to fire director stations on top the superstructure.  Add a gunnery computer (feed it range, bearing, speed, and course of the target and it leads the target for you).

Infantry would be cool, you could really just make it a ground vehicle of sorts that type of graphic. Allow him to equip a rifle to kill the other troops, or a bazooka to kill the GV's.

in an interview Hitech said that he would like to see us
be able to man combat troops to take maproom with
manable defending troops
Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.

I'd like to see dynamic mission planning rooms where people could chat about what they're planning in privacy.  It would be great for conducting squad business on squad night and for CO discussions in scenarios.

As to Privacy: You have 999 channels to choose from - pick a channel.

And if you are in a squad - you have a private channel to chat with just squad mates.

negative dmdnexus, there are only 100 channels (100-199) for country-public usage.

But there are some rooms available, just agree on a field, I'd suggest using the one closest to HQ for open missions.
