Aircraft performance charts
« on: May 17, 2002, 02:18:34 AM »
Can anyone tell me what fuel state is used in the climb and speed charts for each plane? Is any external ordinance used or are the planes "clean"?

Thanks in advance.

I believe it's 100% fuel and clean configuration.

Guessing here... but I think that's how it's done.

Actually there are at least three anomolies that I am aware of.

1. The listed weight for the P-51D in the AH charts is approx. 9500LBS. The actual 100% internal fuel weight of a P-51D is over 10,000LBS. This is because of a dorsal fuel tank that is usually left empty unless you are flying to the moon and back.

2. The F4U-1 listed weight is approx. 12,037LBS. Again fuel internal fuel (wing tanks) is 12,650LBS. So 100% fuel in the F4U-1 is also more than the charts list because fuel tanks were considered an overload condition.

3. The F4U-1D is the only A/C in AH which has a drag penalty for wing pylons when not carrying ordinance. I have confirmed this with Pyro.

There may be others but those are the ones I am sure of.
