Q: When You shoot at the opponent are the hits calculated at the client or at the server?

I play via a 56k modem and due to lagging I find it very hard to hit anything. Is it the connection or do I just suck?

What was this "rubber bullet" thing that was said to result from V-Sync being on or off?

All on the client.  You shoot at what you see on your FE, you don't have to worry about what the server "sees".  If you get hits on your FE, you get hits.  However if your connection or his is causing warps, it may be tough to hit him in the first place.

Could be a combination of both.  Go get http://www.pingplotter.com and trace tpl.hitechcreations.com.  Then post your results as an image in the Internet Connectivity forum and we'll take a look.

As for V-synch, there was some evidence that disabling v-synch was causing rubber bullets syndrome.  I'm not sure it was true, but I would reccomend you enable v-synch anyway, as I'm betting that not seeing all of the frames was at least making gunnery a bit more difficult.  Really the only reason to disable v-synch is if you are benchmarking.  Leave it on for playing games... why draw frames you will never see?
