Saitek X36 & Mapper
« on: April 28, 2002, 12:37:18 PM »
Need some help. I calibrate my joystick and all is well. It shows 25 usable button commands. All buttons lite green when pressed. Go into Mapper and only buttons 1 thru 8 will operate. My specs are...
X36 usb
CH analog peddles
WinXP O.S.

The buttons that work in mapper are the ones that are just that, buttons. The hat switches which can act as buttons are non-functional. Is there something in Joystick setup I am missing?

Please help, I sure would like to try this game. Sure has improved from when I flew it in its infancy.:)

  Thanks for your time

Saitek sticks and Winxp or Win2000 waste of time... I tried for many long hours to get winxp and x36 to work correctly...Use Win98 SE with the X36 and you can spend more time having fun and less time messing with addon fixes and hacked drivers.
IMHO

WIN XP / 2000 with Saitek joystick

THe main problem with 2000 and XP is that saitek is programming a brand new SGE software to configure. They said its a waste of time to change the old SGE for 2000 and XP users because they release a brnad new STE in the near future.
The first beta version of the new Version is available under SAITEK USA
Look under the downloads section.

But the main Problem with this is that it only supports the buttons and not the hats and rotary knobs. THis will be implemented in the final release.
This final release is expected in the early summer thuis year. So ill say it will be automn.

But they have a driver released to make the stick working under XP and 2000. Saitek Driver
Look under Software and drivers

I used it and ill use it untill the final release is out because when u install the beta version of the STE software it will reconfigure all ur dirctX buttons and u have to map the hole stuff again under Aces High.

So my tip for u is to download just the driver and map the buttons in Aces High. Download the New software when the released the final version.

I hope i could help. !!

Use Dhauzimmer drivers and Hazardscript, not SGE, for WinXP.  Helpful hints from across the sim world.

Dhauzimmer drivers and Hazardscript are very unstable, please make sure your system is fully backed up prior to installing these drivers, for Win2000 Pro users install the Recovery Console prior to installing the drivers, for winxp users make sure you build a recovery date point prior to installation "restore Point"
