Where are they really aiming? They are shifted to the right, but not the guns. Is the center of these sights horizontally aligned with a particular point only at convergence? Were they shifted to aim with the right eye only while keeping the head centered? Actually are we flying these planes with the head shifted to the right, like looking with both eyes through that gunsight?
What was the head possition in the real thing? Were the pilots shifting their heads to the right before aiming? Was that sight perfectly aligned with the right eye?

I don't know about WW2 sights but when you're using illuminating optical sights for SMGs or assault-guns and aim both eyes open (right eye thru sights, left straight to target) you'll see dot or triangle "floating" over the target.
Maybe it's same with ww2 sights?

I posted that cause I read the same. If confirmed, the only way to simulate that is to center the sight for the german planes instead of having the head and sight shifted to the right, cause that add a non desirable deviation when firing without using the sight.

It's just stereoscopic view at work ...

Make a simple experiment :
put a pen at some 50 cm first in the middle close your right eye ,next your left (don't forget to reopen your right eye

) and you will see an offset.

Now offset the pen to the right by some 5 cm you won't see a great difference with both eyes open but you will see a HUGE difference when one eye closed ...

and now just think that the natural pointing eye is the right (for almost everyone) havin the sight offset to the right help aiming ...
But it's ruined by the fact that we are looking at an flat when in a simulator ...

this post was crystal clear before I used the "Straffo's internal translation module" but now you have to decypher it

After downloading the 55.10 patch for the "Straffo's internal translation module" I got to the same conclusion, shifting our default view in german planes do not simulate the real cockpit view from the real pilots. Only way is to center the sight reworking these cockpits.

I don't think the sight is shifted. It's in the center of the screen where it is for every plane.

It's just the cockpit around the sight that is not symetrical.

It doesn't matter for gameplay, it just looks odd.

If you move your head to the left a bit you will find a symetrical cockpit, so the sight is shifted and your head too.
