Help with Map again
« on: May 22, 2002, 02:29:48 PM »
I made a "Map for my Map" again, I made the map changed it to 256color edited it a little in paint program then saved it and changed the name but the standard map still appears! Is there a way of fixing this without having to remake the terrain???

I don't understand why you are worried about this.
You don't need to make any changes to your terrain or other files.
Just make sure the ( map ) "your terrain name" .bmp file is in your "terrain name folder" with all the other files.
Run the Editor and hit Build.
It will make another .res file.

If I had a terrain called Cajun and wanted to make a version 2 of it this is one way to do it.

run EDITOR
click FILE
click NEW
message "xxxx has changed.  Do you wish to save?  YOU NEED TO ANSWER YES OR NO.
TYPE IN FILE NAME in this case I would enter Cajun2
click on OPEN
select the MAP SIZE and OK
then CLOSE EDITOR
message " Cajun2 has changed.  Do you wish to save?  YOU NEED TO ANSWER YES

Now go to the Cajun2 folder and delete the files
Cajun2.elv
Cajun2.typ
these are the elevation and land textures.

goto the Cajun folder and COPY the Cajun.elv and Cajun.typ files and paste them into your Cajun2 folder.  Rename both of these to Cajun2.

now you have your land mass with elevations

Now depending on what you want in your Cajun2 terrain that you have in your Cajun terrain will determine what other file you need to copy, place and rename.

...Lotta work lol, why don't they just make save as feature work? whats it even doing there if it doesnt work?...

I'm a little confused, so what we are doing is creating a new file and copying all the old data to the new folder and then loading it in the editor to edit, and I have to go through this each time I wanna resave my map?
