Rude at the risk of sounding like a socialist, I consider people who knowingly choose the largest side on regular basis chicken and gutless. They're the same kind of folks who cheat in FPS games just to get their victory time after time with minimal risk of losing due to having some unfair advantage compared to the other players. What's your definition of cheaters Rude, capitalist?

To the earlier comments; bishops don't care to check the numbers when they join the arena - why should they. They're practically always having the advantage (last saturday excluded) so they can just log and join the party. (A reminder again I'm talking about euro timezone 12:00-24:00 GMT+2 and that only!)

It's so easy to give excuses on flying for the biggest side when you're there. But I reckommend (just for a change) to try out flying for the smallest side next time you log on. I think it might be even fun for you to face a challenge sometime.

After a day or two playing at disadvantage you may remember again how it is like and have a different approach.

That would be more like 7-8months back, as I believe was previously stated.

Flying a Spit is easy.  I go to the hangar, select Spitfire Mk Ia or Spitfire V.  I then select a fuel based on how long I expect to fly around in that sort.  I then go back to the tower and check for cons before clicking a spawn button.  From there, it's like flying any other plane.  Hit E to start the engines, throttle up and use rudder to keep her straight down the runway.   Last I checked this is how you pick any plane to fly in Aces High.  You can also use the .plane command, but I don't know which numbers correspond to which plane.  ;)

Lots of Bish = Lots of Targets.  I will admit lately that I've been using the Spitfire V more than the I now because of the numbers.  Spit I just doesn't do as well when outnumbered.  :(

If you don't want me to fly the Spitfire V, please email me, and we'll arrange for you to pay my subscription for the next month.  Then I'll fly what you want me to.  :)  Until then, take your non-turning, but always running away rides and shove 'em straight up yer butt!  :D

Being a Rook I guess I can give my 2 cents on this one here. Yeah, it is kinda frustrating to log in and see that you only have 3 bases to up from, all with bad fuel. It's not, however, something I haven't seen the Bish have to deal with. They were getting assaulted hard on the Mind map. They did have a rough go for a while on the NDIsle map. To say that the Bish never get banged is wrong, I have seen and have participated in it.

Last night I logged on to see that the Bish had twice the numbers the Rooks did. It did bother me briefly until two things happened.

I was upset until I remembered how ticked I was when that huge influx of people came onto the Rook side not too long ago. There is nothing worse in this game than fighting 10 people for one lone spit flying low and slow. I'm competitive, I like a challenge, being ganged is not fun and I'm here to tell you that fighting fellow countrymen for a kill is not fun either.

I was also still a little angry until more of my squaddies showed up. Once they did and we started doing organized things, not necessarily base capture, it became a heck of a lot more fun.

So, I guess my whole point of putting in my 2 cents here is, I welcome being outnumbered....moreso than having numbers. I like the challenge. I just wish there would be better communication between countrymen I guess. I don't want to play General and I'm not advocating that. It is, however, more fun to fly organized than just flitting about from place to place.

And to my good friend xBat....where's the boobies?

MrRipley, you miss the point.

The Bish DO play at a disadvantage. Perhaps just not at the time YOU are on, apparently.

For example, check the "Mindinao" thread that covered our valiant but dweeblike defense of the Southern end from about May 19 to the 22nd.

(Dweeblike because Bish HQ issued orders that under penalty of death all Bish must fly only Spits/Niks/LA7's at 35k+ and not attack unless numbers were 10 V 1 in our favor. This is gospel truth, of course. Bish Supreme Commander has account canceling privileges from HTC just in case anyone disobeys. It's true.. I swear it. It's just one more unfair advantage we have over you guys.)

The idea that Rooks or Knights alone are the only ones ever outnumbered and getting gangbanged is ludicrous. It happens to every country at some time during the playing day or playing week.

If any thinks it happens ONLY to them and/or ONLY during one particular time of day........  they're simply not looking at the true "big picture".

But, like a famous politician (bites thumb, looks directly into camera, generates tiny glistening tear from right eye)  "I feel your pain."

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

We now have a two country war!  Rooknights pounding the poor under organized, under manned Bishops!

hehe, last time I played it was a BishRook attack on us.  At the same frickin' field.  I think Wotan and some of his squaddies were there so he can corroborate the story.  A44.  Bish coming in hordes from the south, Rooks coming in hordes from the northeast.  Was a blast!  lots of targets to shoot at all around.

I just try to find the fun in a given situation.  Totally outnumbered, the fun is usually how many can I get before they get me.  (icing on the cake is being able to disengage bingo ammo and make it home alive).  Even numbers, it's finding a good fight, or assisting in a base capture or defense.  Having the numbers...  JABO time usually.  :)  I seem to have more fun when outnumbered though.  Besides it's always good to have 5 or more badguys around you when you die, then you can blame on that damned gang banging!  ;)  I tell ya, it's just not as fun to die in a good 1 v 1.  You had a great fight, and ya give a .  But when ya got banged, then you can totally taunt them on Ch 1 for "taking the entire Bish air force to shoot down lil' ol' me!"  hehe

>>one team outnumbering both other teams combined?
fact.. <<

Skurj:

If you are referring to last night (5/22) in the MA, it is really no surprise. When it becomes apparent to those logging that one side has an advantage over another and are close to a reset, they will go to the winning side to get the perk points. It is something which happens when we Rooks have got things going for us. All of a sudden I'm flying in a group of folks I recognize as nmez or, whom I have never seen before.
Last night was such a night, I logged on about 8:00 p.m. EST and Rooks were down to 4 fields, Bish had 154 pilits up and nits and Rooks had around 107 and 99 respectively. I log off to watch TV and log on again, Bish had over 200 Nits had 124 and Rooks had 107 and down to 4 fields. By the time I logged off, Bish had about 224 pilits or more.
The dweebs and point potatos smelled blood and swarmed to the winners camp; hehe they didnt know they would have to work for it though :)

Per my other response in this thread I have to reiterate that it really irks me when people flock to Rooks when we have the upperhand. Didn't ask for your help and frankly, I'll be glad when you're gone.

Now, this is not the same view I hold towards squads that rotate. Sometimes I even (gulp?) miss the AK's, ok, not really ;) but I do welcome the squads who come for the tour.

So, it boils down to this:

Come for the tour = a welcome
Come for a reset = get lost

I'll tell ya what, after reading some of the poop in this thread I wanna puke ;)
Hell, some of you dweebs can rationalize anything! :)
This thread itself oughta get an award for whine of the week not for its quality, but for sheer numbers of whines.
I fly Rook, from my lookout I see Rooks getting hammered nightly; no I don't care to hear your rebuttals, if you aint Rooks you simply don't know. We Rooks are accustomed to being outnumbered and fighting two sides; it makes for more targets.
The thing is, there are many who log on and fly for the winners and inflate that side's numbers, it happens to us (rarely, but it does).
Hehe, last night was funny, with the overwhelming numbers of Bish it took them well past my logoff time before they won the reset (if they did), on the easiest map in the AH inventory!:D  All the while there were dweebs running their mouths over CH1 as if they are the greatest pilits in the game. LOL Hilarious! I guess some folks need that.
But guess what? There is nothing that can be done about the dweebs and point potatos who do this!
So, buck up guys and get over it. When it happens in your country, you will have to ignore the point potatos as we do in Rookland; they are nothing but an embarrassment. But it isnt necessarily that one side is being unfair for having all of these people join them, it's something that happens more and more for 25 perk points in 3 categories.

I read this and I thot, I wonder how I've been doing, so I went and looked.

I have been killed once by a chute.  :(

I'm going to guess that it was a bish chute, only because there is a higher percentage of those in the air at any given time.
