See, during the clone wars, a lot of that technology, especially that pertaining to droids, is destroyed See, the clones have no tolerance for droids, they started to profile droids, but it all just went downhill from there. Pretty soon, they were testing for droid DNA, and shipping them off to "resettlement" camps as part of a sinister "Final Solution" It all makes sense.

SKurj, when Lucas started starwars 1977 The book was allready
there, u know they didnt had render farms and the high tech to
visualize the huge battles in EP I and EP II, thats why he started
with Episode IV. The EP IV story didnt have any big battles to
visualize, only problem was Jabba the Hutt ;) (remember the
cut Han Solo scene).

And today it is possible to visualize huge battles so thats why
he started with the first episodes now. But i think the battle at
for Deathstar (EP IV + EP VI) and the Ground battle on Hoth in EP V
would look complete different if he would film it with todays
technology.

I hope to see less mega visual FX in EP III. EP II was on the
way to get overFX'ed. But thats the famous clone wars they
talked about in the old Episodes ;) You maybe wonder why no
Droidicas seen in the old Episodes ? well they were there, just
not on Tattoine or any other planet in the old Episodes ;)

I'm really interested to see how will Lucas create the transition
from EP III to EP IV. I think we will see the Star Destroyers
and TIE fighters Designs from the old Episodes in EP III.

He's right. Its all a matter of special effects. We have high density computer graphics. They had mutilated battle ship and airplane modles.:D :p :p

Octavius, in a interview Lucas said, it was impossible to
film EP I, II  1977. They didnt knew how to visualize it.
He didnt predict anything, but 1995 he saw it is possible
now and so they started on the EP I.

I'd say because of a few reasons skurj.

During the rise of the Empire, droids were seen as a threat.  Thru most of the storylines and which make sense during the movies, droids were made with restricter bolts, programmed not to harm humans..etc.

All the planets featured in the last 3 episodes are backwards, out of the way planets.

After Palpatine becomes Emperor, most all of the manufacturing planets, banking guilds, etc come under Palpatines control thru govenors and because of those tight reigns, advances in certain area's dwindle.

the first one was the best - 1977

maybe because it was ground breakng, maybe because I was 19  :)

Dozed some during the long (er love) scenes in the "Clones" but I don't think I snored :)

hey Eagler, i was 9 when i watched EP IV ;)
You know what irritates me, C-3PO. In Ep II he is on tattoine
with Owen Lars (the place where Luke raise up later).
So C-3PO knows the Owens. But in EP IV he got sold
by the Jawas to Owen again, and Owen and C-3PO don't
remember it, looks like C-3PO will get brainwashed in EP III ;)

yeah, you'd think Owen would remember having Threepio, you know since it was only his stepmother's droid.   Then again, Owen never did ask what the protocol droid's designation was and they all pretty much look alike.

As for why there aren't battle droids in Ep IV - VI...  obviously the clones/stormtroopers are better.  :)  I mean we've seen the droid army twice, and both times they've lost!
