Very well GRUNHERZ,  I have removed the offending word.

And no, the sterotypical liberal response would be to try to get in touch with the feelings of the terrorists.  I think that's stupid.

I don't mind a worn flag cuz no one and nothing is perfect

However when people completely disregard their colors and let them get dirty, thats frustrating. There's a difference between a flag torn and tattered and one covered in mud.

I have a feeling that the stars and stripes francis scott key wrote about weren't exacly in the best of shape either too.

// warning eurocitizen though

waving a flag don't make you a better citizen than the one actually doing something for his country but without flag...

Your action count , not your "agitation"

Americans take their flag a bit more seriously than the rest of us Straffo.

I learned this first hand when I was asked to retrive the flag from the school flag pole when I was in the US for a year.  By mistake I let a corner of it drag along the ground.

The reaction I was was swift and severe.  I will never make the same mistake twice.

I know it Curval since I'm hunting this BBS for almost 3 year now ;)

But I'm pretty sure that some have flag without conviction :(

For exemple I proud of my own french flag but as it has been throwed into mud (correct french word = désacralisé) by some right wing extremist I won't wave it.

So, then what would be the penalty for them not saying the pledge of allegiance if the bill was signed into law?

The difference is one is showing support for the USA while the other isn't.

You can nitpick all you want but I was happy to see all the flags flying around.

I was/am pleased to see the support for our country and not a lot of limp wristed liberals screaming we brought 9/11 on ourselfs.

I have no idea what "penalty" if any would/could be enacted. The fact that he can rationalize in his head that simply requiring kids to say the pledge ONE time a week makes us Nazis or Terrorists sickens me and thats why I posted it.

Lonz...

who grew up in a time when the pledge was said on a daily basis and actually contained the words "under God"

... which were added in the 1950s to distinguish the US from god-hating regimes such as the Soviet Union.

And to answer the question: no I don't.  I carry love of country on my heart, not my car.  And I consider it the duty of every citizen to evaluate critically the actions of the republic, and to participate in the government of the country.  I will not wave the flag and waive democracy.

I agree.  Any amount of patriotism (considering the last 30yrs) is a step in the right direction in IMO.

Oh, and the line about the flags being made in China... priceless.

Lonz

Jesse was right. One real big problem with the pledge... "One nation under god..." Sorry... 1st Amendment says that toejame don't fly. I haven't said the pledge since grade school.

Oh... and I don't have a flag on my truck. I've never put one on it and I'm not about to.
