Time for maybe 2 Arenas???
« on: May 28, 2002, 07:24:58 PM »
It is already getting close to the max limit as it is, with the eventuality of more players lining up when 1.10 is released ???(and the ever increasing complaints about warping) if the current ISP isn't broadened - what to do - could we see a second arena???

Another thing to keep in mind is the plane set that will be introduced in 1.10. This could make for a Pacific Theatre and a European Theatre as well. I for one would fly both if it ever came about - They already have 2 ISP's (one of which doesn't get used to its potential quite yet).

But this is just an idea as always...what do ya'll think???

There are not nearly enough Japanese planes for a Pac Arena.

I'd say that we should wait and see how the 512x512 mile maps affect things.

With the change that HTC did a couple of weeks ago in the connectivity department I went from a 80ms+ ping to 30-40ms ping. Also the warping of other players on my FE dropped significantly for me. So I think the current setup is fine but what do I know; I took two months off from AH and suck worse now than I did before the break.  :D

seperate euro/pac arenas would suck...  besides there's the CT for historical matchups.

i do agree however that when the MA hits 400 people, teh host queue starts to act up - it might be due to the map size we have now causing this, and perhaps bigger maps will ease the strain.

I'm just scared to death that 1.10 will be more demanding on my comp, and that it will take the same FPS hit that many of us saw around release of 1.09 pach1. (they eventually fixed that )

Im playing ALOT now, cause I always fear that the next release will make it unplayable for me.. Therefore I love new releases, but I'm also scared of them. :)

I'm mostly afraid that the new bomber system and new maps will affect FPS.

I agree with Karnak.   Even with the 2 announced Japanese planes, there just aren't enough to make a Pac arena work.

I'm still hoping for 1/2 dozen more Japanese aircraft types for 1.10.

What Japanese planes did Air Warrior have in its PAC arena?

Good thoughts Black Sheep.....I hope it moves in this direction soon as well.  Plane set may or may not (depends up what other surprises this next release brings) support the PTO.  We shall see, but the idea of PTO and ETO arenas is good IMHO.

Would splitting arenas help with connectivity, or aren't they all on the same server?  I'm clueless in that department.

There is an alternative which has been mentioned and that is the CT Arena.  One thing I'd personally like to see is the CT also mirror the MA.  That is, not only make it Axis and Allies in the CT, but make setups for a week where each country has the same aircraft selection but of a limited selection....say, early warbirds...or only Pacific warbirds...etc.
