988th MP Co.
Ft Benning, Ga. (81-82)

3 months during that period was spent at Ft Chaffee guarding the dregs of Cuban society Castro saddled us with during the Mariel flotilla.

59th MP Co.
Pirmasens, Germany. (82-84)

A story of life in the Army.  ;)

When I left Ft Benning it was with hopes of a *less* demanding duty station, 988th MP Co was a STRAF unit attached to the 18th Airborne Corps and wasn't real pleasant duty. (grunts with brassards)

The post CG ordered all Benning troops to perform a 12 mile road march monthly and the 988th C.O. usually made us do 15.

Shortly after arriving in Germany I was in orientation and saw a platoon road marching in full MOPP 4 gear, (except for the booties) I chuckled and thought to myself "poor bastards" I'm glad my road march days are finished.

I found out after class that it was MY platoon.

The 95th MP battalion commander had ordered that all MPs were required to perform a 10 mile MOPP march and qualify with our weapons to "familiarize" ourselves with operating in a NBC environment.

Benning was a picnic compared to Pirmasens.
:D
