Depends on what part of Texas you move to. Texas can be broken up into 4 distinct geographical parts.
In the East (Beaumont area), there are pine trees, lot of green and very pretty areas.
In the South, you have ocean, beaches and high humidity.
In the West, you have desert, rugged terrain and no rain.
In the North, you have cold, and very erratic weather.
In virtually all parts of the state there are lakes. The lakes run from crystal clear to very muddy.
Everything is spread out in Texas, so picking where you want to live it critical to what you like to do. Most of the time you are in for a 30 minute to 1 hour drive to do anything.
Some highlights:
Dallas/Ft. Worth contains a very diverse culture. The area is known as the Metroplex and in Ft. Worth, you will generally find a very laid back life style, whereas Dallas is very much a big city atmosphere full of hustle and bustle. If you can imagine what you like to do, you will probably find it somewhere here.
Austin: The state capitol and home of the University of Texas. Special events like 6th street parties, and some of the most beautiful lakes in the state will be found here. Per capita, Austin probably contains the most beautiful ladies in the state, mostly due to the University. If you are a young, single guy,..it is one heck of a place to party.
Corpus Christi/Houston: Beaches and high humidity rules. Houston is more of a big city, while Corpus is smaller and more spread out.
There is much more, but hope that helps.
