To those who use AHvoice to discuss aircraft preferences, upcoming versions,  etc.

Please keep in mind that every time you key that mike you rob all the friendlies in range of all of their audio cues.

The ability to squelch the range channel would be nice.

Radio discipline is often terrible. On our squad frequency, I'm constantly telling pilots to knock off non-essential chatter. It becomes a problem when you can't warn a squadie due to being stepped on by the magpies. Useless reports are nearly as bad. Who cares if they see "lots of dots", we all have radar. We also don't care if you killed a gun emplacement at a field three sectors away from the fight. We really don't need a "blow by blow" description of your bomb run. There's a time for chit-chat, and a time for silence. Too many pilots don't seem to understand this.

Squadron commanders need to reel in the yakfests.

My regards,

As long as DLambBA stays off of it, I'm cool. That kid was like a fork on a chalkboard. Yeah, squelchable range channel would be cool.

Guys, go to setup/voice slide the "effects" slider all the way to the right. Now you don't lose the sounds when they talk.

Yes I sometimes wish I could mute the room channel and just have squad comms. I don't want to have to be rude and tell someone to shut up but sometimes I really do feel like it.

I agree  - the ability to turn off the range vox would be a good thing.

As a work around, if someone has diarrhea of the mouth... can't you squelch that one person and you wont' hear their vox?

vsquelch nexus.
But yeah, it's really annoying to fly through some combat zone and pick up a couple guys babbling about whatever on the range channel.

Brevity on squad -- that's something you can train for.  People should remember the different uses of voice and keyboard.
But you just can't do that for range channel. and you can't vsquelch every offender.

I dunno, most Knits are pretty good about using the Range Channel for information about the fight only.  Haven't ran into many conversations more than the usual "I blew him up good" "yeah, ya did!" stuff.

I only squeak on our squad channel, and boy, do I squeak at times!  "where in the HELL are they all coming from???"  "from the East"  "I know that but they're going from d6.0 to right on my bellybutton in a second!!!  damn radiator hit again!"  Actual exchange between me and Puke on squad chan.  :D

Really wish we could squelch the "room" voice.

Barring that I wish people would read and heed this:  http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/air_combat/brevity/
