Best Goal of All Times
« on: May 31, 2002, 11:19:53 AM »
Was browsing through the FIFA website.. they had a list of the goals that had been voted as the best of all time.

There's Pele's goal (niice!), Mamadonna's "Hand of God" goal (pshe) and others.

I agree with Pele's goal, it was truly incredible.. but the others I dont see as being better than what you see in average games. (except maradona's cheat goal, but thats another story).

Which would you nominate as Best Goal of all Time?

I nominate Freddy Rincon's Goal that tied Germany 1-1 on the Italy 90 world cup.

You just can't beat a single man twisting his way through all the defenders, coming face to face with the goaly, "tap dancing" the ball with the goaly so damn close that it was almost SURE that he'd take the ball.. and WHAM! He shoots the ball UNDER the goalie's feet as the goalie is throwing himself on his knees to grab the ball and ties the game just a minute before time was up. Trying to get a video of it off the internet, GAWD that was an awesome goal.

Another great one was Valderrama's goal where he shot from behind midfield and "hung" the goalie. :D

maradona 2-0 against Inglaterra (the one where he dribbles even his own shadow in a run wich started in his own field)

And Rivaldo's 3-2 against Valencia FC, last match in 00-01 season in spain...

Long pass (40m) from Frank de Boer...Rivaldo controls with his chest, out of the box, back to the goal...without leaving the ball go down, he jumps and in an incredible overhead kick he puts the ball straight into Caņizares's goal.

I swear I've never seen a goal like that before...and it was minute 91, of the last match in the season, and Barcelona with that goal( because that goal) qualified for the Championship league of this year. So there was a lot to lose in that try...

but he scored :)

Maradona's goal against England was good.  However my personal fave is gazza's goal against scotland in euro '96.  Was a pass to gazza, he chips it over the defender and the volley's it into the goal.

gonna search for an mpeg of it- it's such a cool goal.:D

found it

Any Roberto Carlos free kick from over 35 meters out.  WOW!  Those are some impressive goals, if only in terms of sheer power.

You sure it was El Pibe who had the keeper out to dry?  I thought it was the Colombian keeper who was out of his box against Cameroon and Roger Milla shot from the centerline.  Pibe was on the field for that one, but he wasn't doing the scoring...  Cameroon 2 Colombia 1 if I'm not mistaken in the second round of Italia 90.

Bobby Orr in 1970 was simply the best, hands down.

Gica Hagi was much better free kicker than Roberto Carlos...He was WAY more accurate, and he had a similar hitting power too. :)

Oh, Higuita? He did one of those, but his royal $#@$# fuk up in that game disqualifies his butt. What a moron ;)

Pibe did that in one of the following world cups.. dont remember which.

Tac, mighta been in '98 then.  Valderrama didn't score in the 94 WC.  Only Valencia did.  Unless you count Escobar's own goal against the US.  (we joked about him getting killed by drug czars when he went back to Colombia.  not long after, a fan actually did gun him down.  :( )

Maradonna was a ******* cheat and his second goal (considering the first was disgraceful) was against a demoralised and tired England side. After seeing a BLATANT hand-balled goal, who wouldn't be.

Owen's goal against Argentina in '98 was perhaps the best of all time. Argentina were fresh and it was early in the game - the length of the run, the number of defenders and the fact it was the argies make it my choice.
